0:22Hayden:Hello. And hello, Mitch. Oh, hey. Hey, how are how are you doing, Mitch? I'm doing better now. Oh, okay. Anyways, welcome to Entertain This, a podcast about movies, TV shows, and video games. My name is Hayden. With me I have Mitch. Hello! And no time. Yeah, yeah. He had some lame excuse about, I don't know, having a baby or something. Yeah. Slacker. He's on baby number two. So he's got a boy and a girl now. Yeah. Good for him. Just barely a year apart. He's got the Myers twins. And he will uh be reaping the what he sowed from all that. So especially since he's, you know, pushing 40. But whatever. Whatever. Good for him. If if you uh if you know who he is, make sure you send him a congratulatory message.
1:16Hayden:My kids are all like, I don't know, going to college and stuff.
1:19Mitch:So mine are eight and four, so they're a little older, but all right.
1:25Hayden:Before we get into what we're talking about, which is the new Spider-Man movie. Mitch, would you don us with the social media, please?
1:34Mitch:Well we've got an entertainthis.lovable dot app. What is that? That's our new website. Okay. That's that's just what it what it is right now. But it'll have you can go on there and you can listen to all our episodes. Uh if you want to, you can sign in and become part of our community, which gives you the ability to go through and uh comment on blogs. You can suggest uh different movies for us to watch or movies to punish us with. Uh you'll have access to all the uh news media that we have, because we have like a scroll that'll just you can just keep going and going and going and look up news media. Uh let's see, you can also actually take trivia from the trivia that we've had on the podcast before.
2:16Mitch:You can compete in that, and there's a leaderboard that refreshes once a month. So you know, and the whoever is the top person each month, they'll get a little gold star. Look at you.
2:25Hayden:That's right, we're upgrading. Okay. All right. Well, there you go. That's our significant update for the podcast.
2:31Mitch:Oh, yeah. And then Instagram, TikTok, and X entertain this underscore. I forgot about those.
2:36Hayden:There you go. There you go. I will have YouTube links probably on the website.
2:39Mitch:But yeah, actually, there uh when you go to the main page, it'll actually has a button that says watch watch the uh watch on YouTube.
2:45Hayden:Yeah, like so. All right, well, uh, let's go ahead and dig into the topic for today. Spider-Man. What was his way, like you know, homeward bound or something? Brand new day. Brand new day. All right, homeward bound to get rid of the uh the home thing.
3:00Mitch:Well, yeah, because I think the next ones are supposed to be brand new day, new day, and I can't remember what the last one was.
3:06Hayden:It's not it's not new day, it's not brand new day anymore, it's just a regular old new day.
3:11Mitch:Oh, so one of them's called One More Day.
3:13Hayden:Oh, okay. Something like that. They're kind of running out of names, aren't they? Yeah. Spider-Man, here we go again. Two spider, two man.
3:25Mitch:But you know, it was it's done really well. I'll I'll give it that.
3:30Hayden:Yeah, so me and Mitch went and saw it, uh, because Tom is busy having babies. And uh we took me for my birthday. Thank you, Mitch.
3:38Tom:Yeah, you're welcome, Roy. Birthday.
3:40Hayden:And uh uh we saw it next to a lot of like, you know, Generation Zs and loud people and whatever, and all my my skin was crawling the entire time while somebody was doing their Instagram TikTok dances in the middle of the movie.
3:54Mitch:But Well first we went to the wrong theater. And I accused the wrong person of sitting in our seat.
4:00Hayden:Yeah, we we lost a listener that day.
4:03Mitch:But uh Nah, they'd never seen us before. They do now. It's those guys.
4:09Hayden:Idiots. Yeah, but anyway, so we went and we saw, and it was it was it was not my favorite of the of the uh Tom Holland Spider-Man's.
4:19Mitch:Yeah, I mean I enjoyed the movie, but it definitely uh to me, I mean, granted, there's a lot of nostalgia to it, but No Way Home was my favorite so far.
4:29Hayden:I I feel like they're using their uh their temple franchises like Spider-Man. Because first off, their other temples are gone. Yeah. Like Thor kind of struck out, Captain America's out, I guess, and then uh Iron Man's Out. Yeah. What else was there?
4:47Mitch:Uh you got Hulk, but I mean they never had movies.
4:50Hayden:Yeah, he never even gets a regular movie, so like a side character and all the other temples.
4:55Mitch:Um really their biggest thing right now besides Spider-Man is Daredevil.
4:59Hayden:But it doesn't even have movies, it's TV.
5:01Mitch:Right. Yeah.
5:02Hayden:So so this is their biggest thing. And they they they had to put a lot of moving parts to prep for okay, to prep for uh doomsday, right? Right. You know, so they need to reestablish, you know, like the Hulk's still there, and he's just some like disgruntled professor that doesn't transform anymore. And uh they got uh what's her name that's not Black Widow? That's not Blackwidow. Yolanda or whatever her name is.
5:35Mitch:Oh, um Yelena. Yeah, she's in a Yolanda. Close enough.
5:41Hayden:Yeah, she's in it, and she's just basically like, I don't know, a rabbit's foot for to point uh Spider-Man the right direction.
5:49Mitch:Well, I do like though, because when Spider-Man goes to to talk to her, she's just like sitting in a hot tub and she's like, This is my office.
5:58Hayden:That was that was pretty funny. She makes him take off his uniform, but or his costume, but he won't leave uh he leaves his hat on or his mask, yeah.
6:07Mitch:Gets in wearing nothing but a towel to mask.
6:09Hayden:Yeah, it's goofy. But anyway, so uh there's a lot of like you know, and and also they introduce a new character, which is pretty substantial.
6:17Mitch:Well, I mean it it's already been revealed that it's you know Gene Gray. So Gene's everywhere.
6:21Hayden:Gene Gray's in the movie, and they they they make that work, and uh, you know, uh which is the catalyst for where we're going with the the MCU bringing in Marvel's, you know.
6:33Mitch:Yeah, I mean basically this is like the first, I guess, official introduction of mutants in Marvel. So it makes you wonder like where were they all this time?
6:43Hayden:Yeah, they're gonna have some explaining to do.
6:46Mitch:Um well, and then I did uh think after the movie I uh mentioned to you that there's a possibility that this could be take place technically after Doomsday later this year. You think that Well no well because of other reasons I guess it couldn't.
7:02Hayden:Right. I mean I have a feeling that they're gonna go the Thanos route with Doomsday and it's gonna be like another world-ending event and well, I mean it definitely is.
7:11Mitch:I mean it's it's what they called the incursion where the planets are about to collide and all realities combined into one.
7:16Hayden:Yeah. Yeah. But that was pretty much it. They had uh the Punisher in it, but he was kind of like, I don't know, sideshow Bob and all this. He wasn't really there for anything besides just to be the Punisher in this movie.
7:32Mitch:Yeah, I mean, there he has a couple of scenes and stuff, but he he really doesn't go out and help fight a bunch of people or nothing.
7:38Hayden:Because he can't. He can't fight the Hulk. Yeah. You know, he shoots him in the face just to like annoy him enough, but that's about it.
7:44Mitch:Yeah, I mean, because you have that. Um, I mean, he can't really do much against Gene Gray because she's psychic, so yeah.
7:51Hayden:Yeah. So that like it was an it was an interesting, you know, stab at the franchise to see kind of okay, you have all these new and old characters, this is how they'll interact with each other. But moving forward, I feel kind of like did we need this movie? Right. Did did it did it do anything besides introduce the X-Men?
8:12Mitch:I feel like the whole thing is just setting up the future. Yeah, and uh I I Because well, because like the Hulk, he shows in the trailer, he's got the little inhibitor thing on his hand. Yeah, and then that plays a bigger role later on, you know, they'll reveal it later.
8:29Hayden:Yeah, yeah. Also, uh I mean they do go into a little bit about Spider-Man's or Peter Parker's issue with like have everybody forgetting his identity. So uh Mary Jane and uh Ned uh don't know who he is anymore, and right a little bit of reconciliation with that, but not enough, not enough to like really move forward.
8:50Mitch:It was just kind of like I don't know who you are, but I want to get to know you kind of and well, my whole thing is like in the movie he's erased it to where they don't know who he is, but then he's still trying to interact with them. So what's the difference?
9:00Hayden:Well, he he kind of s tried it not, you know, but he was he was too lonely. Yeah, I don't understand why he like didn't go to Doctor Strange or something, you know.
9:12Mitch:Um and honestly, I feel like the Hulk being introduced was kind of just a waste as well.
9:20Hayden:Yeah, and uh, you know uh Gene being the big bad guy, quote unquote, for this movie, even though she's not. Right. Um she's a victim of the government. But uh she's in it, and there is like a two-kilometer, you know, disaster that's going on in New York City. But then there's other superheroes that live in New York City that don't show up right anything with it. Daredevil didn't show up, Daredevil didn't Doctor Strange didn't show up.
9:51Mitch:Which which to me is kind of weird because there you see in the trailer he's fighting the hand. Yeah, he's in a prison. We all know Daredevil got locked up and just doesn't make an appearance.
10:03Hayden:He's fighting the hand. Oh, that's right.
10:05Mitch:The the ninjas. Yeah, yeah. Which, granted, I uh I I watched a guy on uh I guess it was Instagram, he had a video that he was talking about how instead of using the Hulk, they should have used the lizard and had you know the inhibitor thing on the lizard trying to keep himself from becoming the lizard.
10:22Hayden:He doesn't become oh well I'm thinking of Scorpion. Yeah, who's a lizard?
10:26Mitch:The lizard's uh I mean he just turns into a big mutant lizard. Remember from uh No Way Home or it's uh what's his name?
10:33Hayden:Yeah, but he was from uh Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man.
10:37Mitch:Yeah, but there could always be a lizard from this continuity. He could be Kirk Connors, and that maybe he was struggling with that problem and then he was trying to stop it. But either way, I mean if they'd have done that, then you also have Scorpion and Tombstone, that could have helped set up the Sinister Six, which is like a big Spider Man. They need to ship this uh doomsday plot line, so they gotta start finding vessels for those character archetypes to well I'm just saying, like the a big uh Spider-Man storyline is him fighting the Sinister Six, is when like six of his guys all team up, which is could be like his final movie.
11:12Hayden:That's what I'm saying, though. I I I don't think Spider-Man, I don't think people are gonna watch get to see Spider-Man just be Spider-Man. I think he since he is the only legit tent pole left, they're gonna see, you know, especially since it makes a billion dollars when it comes out. That's that's the MCU's attempt to like, all right, let's ship all these other franchises we have in a Spider-Man movie and get people interested in other stuff besides Spider-Man. So that that's where they're putting in all these other nuances. When uh Fantastic Four doesn't get the viewership that they wanted, they're gonna rewrite the entire MCU continuity into a Spider-Man Fantastic Four.
11:51Mitch:Which is kind of bad, like because Fantastic Four, when it came out, was it last year? Yeah, it it didn't do great, but I really I mean I'm a big Superman fan, but I enjoyed Fantastic Four more than Superman.
12:01Hayden:Yeah, I thought it was fine. I thought it was fun.
12:03Mitch:I mean, I thought the story made sense and it kind of led to the bigger, you know, reveal of all this stuff that's supposed to be happening in Doomsday.
12:09Hayden:Yeah. I thought it was fine. You know, I I I do think that I liked it probably more than most of the the uh MCU stuff going on right now because it was its own thing. Right. And didn't really have until the very end, it didn't really have much tie into uh the MCU chaos that it is. I just it it it it seems like they're just you know it every obviously it's a cash grab, but like they got the Russo brothers back, so who knows how much that was paid for that. And then the Russo brothers are like, well, what worked? Uh Captain America worked, uh, you know, uh Tony Stark worked, Thor worked, Spider-Man worked, so let's start uh getting the old team back together and uh but you've already you're diminishing all those amazing scenes where these people left.
12:59Hayden:Right. You know, they put an end to put a pin in their characters, and I'm not blaming the actors or anything. I'm I I I think it's you know, you can you you throw enough money at a problem, somebody's gonna finally agree to it.
13:13Mitch:I mean, I like Robert Downey Jr., but I don't see the point of making him Doctor Doom. I don't know either. I mean, I personally me, because of like the the gypsy tile tie from uh was it uh Killian Murphy's uh other show. What's that? What was it? Uh uh Killian Murphy's show that where he's like got the uh in the the gambling market and all that. What was that called?
13:37Hayden:Oh, Peaky Blinders?
13:38Mitch:Yeah, Peaky Blinders from from that tie and stuff, and that part of the world, those that you know, that that race of people.
13:44Hayden:Roman Romanavi.
13:46Mitch:I figured that would fit better with like Dr. Doom and his you know his personality. I think they should have used him, but that's that's just my opinion.
13:54Hayden:I I so why would they bring him back?
13:58Mitch:Well, exactly.
13:58Hayden:I mean, why I mean seriously, look, what do you think? What what's the what's because it gets it gets money? It gets butts and seats, but also I think they're like, all right, our viewership ratings have dropped since we got rid of the original three. Yeah. Let's uh what can we do to bring them back? And I I bet you there's some McGuffin where Tony Stark's brain gets put in Dr. Doom's body and he was like never dead by the end of the Doomsday stuff.
14:24Mitch:I think what they're gonna do with Doomsday is like the the X-Men that they've announced being cast, which I'll talk about later, but they're making them all like really young, like because Chris Evans stuff, they were all young once uh he started as Captain America 20 years ago. But these these kids are like barely, you know, at a high school age, and they're they're casting all them as all the different characters, and so I think they're gonna end up doing something like where they recast Iron Man. Somebody was joking, like it's gonna be Timothy Charlemagne. Oh man. Oh man. Which that'll be really weird to see that happen.
14:59Hayden:But I'm surprised he hasn't got an MCU thing yet.
15:02Mitch:I mean, yeah. I don't know.
15:04Hayden:But I mean, why not? They got Zendai and Tom Holland and everything else. Why not put the three of them in something? Um I don't know, man. I I mean I I'm gonna go see the Doomsday because it's the big thing this year. It's the it's the Grand Theft Auto Six of movies.
15:22Mitch:I mean, I am excited for it just because of all the different stuff that's gonna be thrown together and to see what comes out of it.
15:28Hayden:Yeah, and you know, if a big Hollywood MCU producer hears me and they're like, well good, then my job is done. I don't really care about the story, I just want to make sure you buy my tickets. I'm saying that eventually it's gonna go the way of, I don't know, Call of Duty, where people are just like, I don't want to see how they But the one thing Marvel has going for it though is because while the Avengers and stuff all got made popular from the movies, the X-Men has always been like their big like cash grab as far as like when it comes to characters and comics. Yeah.
16:00Mitch:So that they're they're bringing in their popular, most popular characters now. So that why do you suppose they waited so long? I don't know.
16:08Tom:Yeah.
16:09Mitch:I mean, because you could they had this whole time, they could have used Wolverine before he got old.
16:14Hayden:Maybe they just don't know what to do because they had a plan. And then when the Fox buyout happened.
16:20Mitch:Well, yeah, I mean that's that's why. I mean, because yeah, it took forever for them to get the rights just to use Spider-Man.
16:24Hayden:But I mean, like, they they pivoted pretty pretty harsh when the uh Jonathan Majors thing happened. Yeah. And they were like, all right, we're gonna go doomsday, no King the Conqueror stuff or whatever. And so I wonder if that A delayed some of the movies and stuff that were coming out, B, if it made it some of these movies bad because of that.
16:46Mitch:Yeah, I mean they might have had to rush them or change the production for what they were planning on doing.
16:50Hayden:I mean, I've I've heard from some CG or some special effects uh developers that like the Marvel movies are the worst to work on because uh they rush them so much, you know, they they get like half of a window, half of a timeline that they any standard production company would expect them to make these ridiculous effects. Yeah. And when you know, like 80% of the movie is CG.
17:15Mitch:Well, I mean, that's what I saw. It's like a lot of times they'll just be on a giant green screen. It's like, you know, go to go to some real places, find make it that look to me, that makes it more more authentic.
17:25Hayden:Well I I I okay, if we're talking about production standpoints, I think that a lot of their things are let's get the shot. And if it's green in the background, we know we can fix it in post. And I think they're leaning heavy on that. I think that that they have like an insurance thing or something that goes on where the director is like, oh, this shot's ugly. It's a good thing we got it in green, you know, with the background. We'll just we'll cut out the actor's head and then just redesign everything and then put the actor's head on uh this basically CG Avatar world. Yeah.
17:59Mitch:So I mean, because I I understand when you're you know, like Spider-Man swinging through the buildings and stuff, you can't do that practically.
18:04Hayden:No.
18:04Mitch:But I mean, when they're just fighting on the street or fighting on a rooftop, just make a make a set or you know, don't just do green screen everything.
18:12Hayden:It used to be that way. Um, I think basically with Endgame, and a lot of people, you know, Endgame was the best Marvel movie for them, but that there was not as much uh practical effects in in-game as there were in like uh Winter Soldier. I think Winter Soldier was probably one of the best practical, like choreographed actual fights and whatever from from the MCU. But that movie took like you know two, two and a half years to make. Yeah. Whereas they're they're cranking out these they'll start principal photography, and these are the billion-dollar blockbuster movies, they'll they'll be done in you know, eight, nine months. Yeah. All photography.
18:53Mitch:And well, like because they just announced the cast for X-Men and they plan on it coming out in 2028.
18:58Hayden:So that means they're gonna start shooting probably early 2027. They're gonna be done before like it comes out May of 28. Yeah, they're probably gonna be done in like, you know, September, October 2027 with all the principal photography. And uh, so that's eight, nine months, and then then they're gonna just crush their their uh their special effects, you know, crew and just those guys won't sleep for it's it's it's kind of like a video game crunch, you know. Uh remember there's a big strike back in the days, like the cyberpunk was coming out, and all these games were under a lot of flag for the their their crunches of making the developers work twice as hard in the last year before the game comes out, so it's polished.
19:41Hayden:Right. I think that's like that, but for for movies, which is silly because you're basically building a video game, but it's not interactive. And uh, you know, all the the CG and stuff, once it gets polished, sometimes it doesn't. I mean, look at the Sony movies. So that's a lot of those movies have terrible CG.
20:01Mitch:Well, and that's the thing though, like some of them they have some really good characters, and the story would be better if they would just take a little more time with it.
20:08Hayden:Yeah. Yeah. Well, you know, uh I don't know who said it, but you know, you a a movie's never finished, it's only abandoned. You know, I think it was like Coppola or someone that said that, but um I just don't think that I don't think there's a that kind of soul in the movie. I think it's like you'll hit these timelines, these you know, by X and such and such date, this will be done. Whether it's done or not, we're we're we're taking it.
20:36Mitch:Well, what kills me is like you'll have characters like the Sony movies, where you had Morbius and Craven, those are really good characters. They just decided to just kind of rush through it and you know, for whatever reason, hire Jar Jared Leto for one of them.
20:50Hayden:Well, I still have theories that Sony just had to crank out a movie to maintain rights, they didn't care how bad it was. And they're there took like an insurance loss on it and all this sort of thing. But you know, MCU was like, you know, at one point back in the early days, before like even up to the original Avengers, it was kind of like this underdog story, like comic books can be real stories. You know, you can you can enjoy the hero cycle and all these like uh uh you know like Shakespearean tales of yore that all the snooty highbrow people take too serious uh but see it wrapped up in its new visage for a younger audience. Right. And they were able to showcase that there's real, you know, uh
21:36Hayden:stakes and and plot and and and interest and politics and everything that goes on in the world that people use to vessel modern interests, the zeitgeist, if you will, of what's going on into a packaged consumable that's good for adults and kids in the comic book venue, right? But once that like underdog kind of intrigue, you know. went away, I think, probably around the time Endgame came out. That's when everything blew up and became too I don't know obtuse. It was just more about uh how how do we do that again? How do we do that again?
22:12Mitch:I mean because when you got to Endgame eventually to that point they're not following really what happens in the comic books anymore.
22:19Hayden:Yeah.
22:22Mitch:There's parts on uh different movies and stuff where basically it's just the story from the comic. Yeah. And then but then like like when they got to end game it's just they just pretty much from there on it's just kind of just make it up as they go.
22:34Hayden:Well I I I think that they had phase one through three pinned. Maybe not as detailed as phase one was when Kevin Feige like started you know assembling the Avengers I think there was a concept of how to get to phase three right and what it would end like. And so because the foundation the the the stepping stones were there the endgame was a solid ending. But around phase two or the beginning of phase three they were like what's phase four look like I mean this is good money right you know let's let's keep the party going and you know the the Russo brothers were like well we're done and all these other people kind of they try to do some more indie director kind of stuff and you know you you go up shooting you know home movies
23:28Hayden:and things like that with your less than a million dollar budget and then all of a sudden Marvel hands you a 300 million dollar budget to go make something and and and it's for some reason it doesn't gel well. Look at Blade right like that's not doing that I think they just canceled it. Yeah right as far as I know they've canceled it completely. So like there's a lot of other movies that are just didn't gel well with the the the Marvel machine that is their current MCU and uh you know I don't know I I I guess it just goes to say that the the is rather than ending the MCU at phase three keeping it going keeping this this this digging this corpse back up that's Tony Stark and you know making them making them
24:09Hayden:act some more I I I think it's hurting the franchise. I think it they they should have ended it and maybe just wait ten years and do a reboot or you know a soft sequel or something like that. You know but I don't know Disney likes money too much.
24:25Mitch:Well kind of pulling it back to the Spider-Man movie I I did like the dynamic that they had between uh Tom Holland and John Bernthoff for you know their characters for Spider-Man and Punisher I thought that was pretty good where they're just going back and forth and you know Punisher's trying to kill the bad guys and Spider-Man's like no no no no let me handle this.
24:42Hayden:Yeah that'd be fun to have like it's standalone right but you know they have to make it a part of something bigger so I think all these tie-ins the again the tie-ins because when you introduce X-Men into a Spider-Man movie where he's buddy copping with the Punisher and getting advice from the Hulk right but you have these you know big threats that are being ignored by Doctor Strange being ignored by the daredevil being ignored I guess by the rest of the X-Men you know and Avengers and everything. Yeah all that like well what is uh what's what's going on you know where where are we supposed to make sense of this and I saw I read a really interesting thing that like the reason why the original MCU movies worked is because they they they
25:30Hayden:presented it in a way like imagine your world if you will where everything is as it is but then there's a a a genius billionaire philanthropist playboy guy that decides to make a suit of armor that he can fly with and fight bad guys. Right. You know how would that look like in your world right but then the suspension of disbelief has gone so far throughout the phases and like the 50 movies that have come out it's not our world anymore. We don't we don't know where like the the baseline is and what to connect with anymore.
26:04Mitch:Well yeah I mean because there's just so much fantastical stuff going on that it's like you know for the people in the in the uh like walking down the street there's like oh well there's Spider-Man and they just keep on going.
26:14Hayden:Yeah I mean I'd hate to be like in construction in New York you know like they're just like not again. The Hulk is mad.
26:21Mitch:Oh my God. So yeah. Well so what would what all I guess what overall would you rate the movie?
26:28Hayden:Um I'll go ahead and say I even though I liked it and it wasn't but it wasn't my favorite I I give it like a 7 7.5 I give it a uh yeah I give it an eight I think that as far as it it's it scratches the comic book itch it's cool to get an update on Spider-Man like hey how's Spider-Man doing yeah even though it's not a significant update he's like well you know he he wants to make friends with his friends again that's basically where they they left you um you know and but like it's it's again the thing that throws me off is it's not a Spider-Man movie it's a it's a vehicle for the doomsday movie right so for where the MCU's going.
27:07Mitch:And like you said that that's how a lot of the Marvel movies are done now is where they just incorporate all the stuff into one just you can't have a a standalone which is why I think Daredevil does as good as it does as a TV series because it's it's focused on him right now. You know Punisher's in there some but it's it's about him.
27:24Hayden:Well weren't the Daredevil Daredevil and Punisher weren't they always kind of like together?
27:29Mitch:Daredevil, Punisher, um let's see Moon Knight sometimes was in there but like they were I mean they they're basically they were the human crime fighters that you know they would kind of interact uh with each other a little bit.
27:42Hayden:Yeah that's another thing is like all the failed superhero stuff.
27:45Mitch:Yeah like Wonder Man that just had one season and that's it.
27:49Hayden:I didn't even She-Hulk. Yeah but like She-Hulk's in New York right yeah so were we just done with She-Hulk now? Like well supposedly Hulk has a kid too because he was at uh Scar which was in She-Hulk he had like a one cameo scene right yeah at the very end of She-Hulk he like goes to a barbecue that She-Hulk is having he goes oh by the way this is my son Scar I don't remember never see him again that's that's the last time you've heard of him like he didn't even talk about him in this movie so yeah so like you know how they did those stings at the end of the at every MCU movie they do like a little like teaser for something to come there's so many of those that never amounted to anything.
28:29Mitch:Right you know and I wonder if it was just like uh like an audience test like hey how do people respond to this well not enough not enough traction so this character that we've introduced gone never gonna talk about it ever again which I mean since we're on the the subject of Marvel we'll kind of move on to what uh Disney just kind of revealed yeah is you've got uh the Ghostwriter movie coming out where Ryan Goslin's gonna be playing uh was I guess Johnny Blaze I didn't think of his real name um so I mean a lot of people have always been like oh yeah you should cast him you know so they're like oh yeah that's a great casting but it's you know I think he's I think he'll be good in it I just I don't know enough
29:11Mitch:about Ghost Rider besides his uh Nicholas Cage movies. I mean though that's pretty close to it. Okay well I mean I just think Ryan Gotham's a better actor so it'll be better. Because I I mean I like the ghostwriter movie at least the first one.
29:25Hayden:Yeah second one was bad um I mean how how how big of a is he like you know Hulk level yeah pretty much really well I mean because he fights like the demons of hell and Satan and all that stuff.
29:41Mitch:So he's I mean he's he's the kind of guy that Doctor Strange would have trouble with Dr. uh was uh Doctor Doom would have trouble with just because he there's there's not a whole lot that you can do if you're a bad guy because he I mean he has one uh what what they call a move where it's called the pendant stare which basically if you have sins and you have any kind of guilt about it it just basically shuts you shuts you down and you just collapse what entity gives him this power to do all this stuff the one above all okay so that's God right basically all right so why does this person care now and not throughout the past 20 years of good question.
30:22Hayden:I just again I I think we're breaking too many you know rules and how the the plot and the lore works if you just whatever kids want to see Ghost Rider.
30:33Mitch:Now with the X-Men that's coming out the one thing I could say is that maybe something with uh in game with the people disappearing or reappearing maybe that altered their genes and that's why mutants are starting to appear now because that would be roughly you know the the teens that were around at that time it altered their DNA. Maybe that's the route they could go I don't know but that would make a little more sense than just saying oh they've been here the whole time but you never you never know what they'll do. But uh as far as the X-Men they've announced well a good many of them that uh are you know who's gonna be playing them who got casted which let me pull this up somewhere that I saved.
31:15Mitch:Uh you're gonna have well there's a rumor that Austin Butler is going to be Gambit. Okay. Because Channing Tatum she's gonna be there for the Doomsday movie. But then you got uh Indy Navaret which um she was the girl from Obsession. Oh yeah she's gonna be playing Rogue interesting uh let me pull it back up here here it is uh you've got Sadie Sink which will be Gene Gray you've got um what's his name Kit Connor is gonna be Cyclops which I don't really know what he's from I don't know everybody's just freaking out how buff he is uh you got Christopher Abbott which is gonna be Charles Xavier which that's the only one I really didn't see like when when you're looking at all the characters I could see them as the character
32:01Mitch:but he just uh he he doesn't seem like he's gonna be I know Charles Xavier he doesn't seem old enough compared to the rest of them yeah um well I mean uh he's he's definitely older than the rest of those teens maybe he's like a 40 middle aged Charles Xavier yeah uh you got Samara Weaving which is gonna be Emma Frost yeah uh let's see Maya Boyd which I don't know what she's from but she's gonna be Storm and she she has the part you know she looks at and then uh the last one that they announced recently was uh Adam Driver which is gonna be playing uh Mr. Sinister yeah they call him Nathaniel something in the trailer or the little thing when they show him but is it he's Nathaniel Essex.
32:44Hayden:He introduced himself as Magneto wait that's not right.
32:48Mitch:Which is weird.
32:49Hayden:So who's there was a lot of rumors that he was going to be Magneto so who is Sinister whatever.
32:55Mitch:I mean he he's a mutant and basically it's like essentially he can't be hurt uh and he's it's almost like he's immortal like he's kind of like Wolverine where he just doesn't age. Okay. Um but he's like you you were talking about uh Adam Driver does good as like a serial killer kind of no the other guy did that's what oh x Charles X Xavier guy. Oh well this one Adam Adam Driver's each character is basically a a serial killer of mutants. Okay. He he basically kidnaps mutants and he'll do genetic experiments on them like horrible experiments on them just to try and like he tries to harness DNA to try and infuse it with himself or to try to create other mutants you know to alter their genes and stuff he's but like I mean he'll just straight
33:35Mitch:up catch them and start cutting them cutting them up and take it pieces and what uh he has like this little red diamond on his head which gives him some level of psychic abilities. So okay but he's yeah he's a real he's a creep. Interesting he he normally works alongside Apocalypse or in the same kind of realm of of that that level.
33:57Hayden:Why do you suppose they haven't introduced Wolverine?
34:00Mitch:It's a good question. Because how are you gonna top you jackman at this at this time.
34:06Hayden:Yeah I mean I I think also they're just they don't know what to do. I think I think the will they won't they about you know how we're gonna do Wolverine has been a question for so long and then they made Deadpool versus Wolverine with you Jackman.
34:21Mitch:Yeah phenomenal and they're just like well there there was a small thing at uh the was it D23 is what it's called for Disney their expo but they're they were talking about doomsday and then there a video comes up where it it's you Jackman talking saying yeah um we really need to be in this movie you hear Ryan Reynolds in the background saying read the cue cart but they're basically alluding that they're gonna be at the doomsday movie as well both of them kill them off so they can have a new Wolverine in it I mean if Daphne Keene was willing to do it she needs to come back as X23 because in the comics she takes over the name Wolverine on the X-Men and then Logan just stays Logan I bet you she'd be willing to do it.
35:06Mitch:I mean there well because she came back for the Wolverine and Deadpool movie I thought briefly yeah I think she I think she would do it and if she does it I think that would be the best way to go about it at this time. Yeah because you're not gonna find you're not gonna please anybody by replacing you Jackman when he was just Wolverine and Doomsday.
35:25Hayden:Yeah yeah but you really can't have X-Men without Wolverine.
35:29Mitch:You're right but Wolverine technically didn't join the X-Men until years after they'd actually been the X-Men. It was almost 20 years before Wolverine joined because I want to say they started well it was about 10 years I think I almost say they started the 60s and it was the 70s when um either late 60s or early 70s when Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Storm and Colossus joined Well I mean still everybody from our generation on knows it as they haven't given you permission to leave.
36:01Hayden:That was loud but I don't know um other than that I mean they did a lot of Star Wars stuff too the Disney thing yeah they the uh Ahsoka season two which that looks pretty good.
36:16Mitch:There's a um did you see the trailer for it?
36:18Hayden:I I saw parts of it I didn't watch the whole thing.
36:21Mitch:Well there's like because General Throne spoiler from season one he's he's there he's escaped the was it the Lost Galaxy something like that yeah and uh basically declaring war on the Republic but he also has like the the witches that are kind of with him. Witches of Dagmar or something like that. Yeah yeah and then it's showing uh a lot of the scenes show Ahsoka struggling with her own mind on whether because she walked away from being a Jedi struggling with going back to become a Jedi and she sees uh Anakin's like Force Ghost talking to her well it's either his force ghost or it's uh like memories but I think it's a force ghost because he was like blue yeah that's that's why I'm not sure but I I figured that's
37:02Mitch:probably what it is but you know it it did one thing I didn't see was Ezra with the person they were looking for the whole time that's true for season one. Yeah I didn't see him in the trailer. But uh I I mean I really enjoyed season one of Ahsoka so I want to see this one too.
37:17Hayden:Where where in the the timeline does this take place?
37:21Mitch:Uh it's supposed to be around the same time as the Mandalorian uh I guess it's after the Mandalorian.
37:26Hayden:So it's before the sequel trilogy right yes so a lot of people think that because they're they're going this route with the whole um you know witches and you know the there's like that thing they there's something from the Ezra thing where it can impact time and stuff like that. Right.
37:49Mitch:And alter time they think that they're gonna just retcon the whole well because they they talk a lot about that in the the Rebels TV show like the kids animated show. Which is if you haven't seen it it's a really good animated show. I I watched it before Ahsoka season one just because I wanted to know who these characters were right and it was really good. So if if you haven't seen that you're a big Star Wars fan I would definitely say go see that.
38:09Hayden:Do you think that I mean is Disney just gonna you know eat Crow like that they're just gonna Yeah those three movies didn't happen.
38:18Mitch:Honestly it'd probably be the best for them.
38:20Hayden:Yeah I mean I think it would but you've you you're whatever legacy pass the torch novelty you're trying to incorporate it will be gone.
38:31Mitch:Yeah Harrison Ford's not gonna do another Gary Fisher's dead yeah I'd be surprised if Mark Hamill agrees to do another I heard that he said he was never gonna appear in person to do another Luke Skywalker but I mean at the end you can move forward with some of these other characters that they've created like you could Ahsoka could be like the main character like the main Jedi going forward if she wanted to do it. I don't think Pedro Pasqual plans on coming back as the Mandalorian at least nothing that they've announced so far. So I mean but there's there's plenty of characters you from Star Wars that you could incorporate into this. Or they could go back and kind of focus on the the was it the
39:12Mitch:old republic because they're they're remaking the game.
39:14Hayden:They should do that they should go back and set like you know origin stories of well not like of characters but of like how the world works right you know where the force came from and all this other stuff. I think like and I'm not huge into like prequels yeah um but I think that that would be so far removed from the Skywalker saga that well right because the only one that's actually alive at that point is Yoda when he was young.
39:40Mitch:No. Well in the in the comics that they have right now.
39:43Hayden:Really I think yeah he he's like just becomes a Jedi and then and but I mean you go back even further to like where the force was found.
39:52Mitch:Oh well yeah yeah not that far yeah he he wasn't around then but that's that's what I'm talking about.
39:57Hayden:I want to know well like how it all began instead of just like you know everybody acknowledges and accepts that space wizards are the thing well okay well how how did this become I can see that it is um did you ever see the acolyte TV show?
40:10Mitch:It it was actually really good I thought a lot of people hated on it but I thought the story made a lot of sense because it it takes place way before everything else.
40:18Hayden:I have a love-hate relationship with Star Wars I think I'm uh after the sequel trilogy especially was the nine yeah yeah I just I was like never again and I I did the Mandalorian show but that was about as far as I went well if you get a chance like you don't have anything else important to watch at the moment you gotta check it out because I mean granted it's only one season it got canceled.
40:36Mitch:I'm supposed to watch season two but the the the spy one what's that one called the spy one skeleton crew no the other one with the live action the dude that was in Rogue One oh uh Andor yeah I'm supposed to watch that one and I haven't gotten around dude the first season was good I got got bored the second season so and again I I'm not jazzed about that because you know he's dead in Rogue One yeah so like I care then uh then you also have Starfighter with Ryan Goslin which the trailer looked interesting I don't know where this fits in the story but he's like in the trailer he's talking about you know this is the fastest prototype Starfighter some kid goes to uncover it and yeah I saw that too and it's
41:16Mitch:just like I feel like Ryan Gosling's like look I've done the movies that I want to do so I'm just gonna or I've done the movies that I had to do. I'm just gonna do whatever I want now he's like yeah I'll be I'll be ghost writer that sounds like fun now everybody kept talking about how Starfighter's gonna be the uh top gun of of Star Wars if they do it uh there's one episode of Mandalorian where him and Bo Katan are fighting like in and out of ravines and stuff with some TIE fighters. If they do it like the kind of like I guess dog fights like those it it could be a really good movie.
41:47Hayden:Well I feel bad for uh what's her name that she had a a a squadrons movie um you know she there she was announced to do like oh yeah yeah I I forgot who you're talking about but I remember them being a squadron's movie and then I guess they shelved it.
42:04Mitch:Yeah so she was doing the Wonder Woman movies.
42:07Hayden:When Kennedy left I don't know I I don't know but like yeah so whatever happened with that was kind of disappointing and I like I I like her movies.
42:18Mitch:She did um I think she did speed you know speed yeah with uh Keanu Reeves really yeah long time ago Sandra Bullock the actor was in it yes but the director here I'll pull it oh the director oh yeah well that that's more your speed the directors I don't know do you want to know how good a movie's gonna be so if you're comparing it to speed her name is never mind that was not her yeah that was not her keep talking I'll figure it out anyways I mean the uh Bocaton and Mandalorian I forgot I can't remember the name of the episode but there there's one where like that I mean it's almost like the new Top Gun where they were kind of going through the ravine to try and race to go shoot the missile. Yeah it was it was basically like that except for you had TIE
43:12Mitch:fighters trying to hunt him down. Or kind of like when uh Independence Day when he's using the jet to try and get away at the very beginning of the movie. A lot of the like the dogfighting stuff that that's something you don't see a whole lot on Star Wars. A lot of times like in especially in the older movies they just shoot each other down like right off the bat.
43:29Hayden:It's Patty Jenkins. Okay and her never mind she's done she's done Monster that's about that's about it. I thought she was uh I thought she was somebody else so yeah whatever whatever happened with that I guess probably Wonder Woman 2 did so bad that they were just like whoa let's not let's not do that.
43:54Mitch:Uh Disney did announce a lot of other stuff as well. Let's see uh they got The Simpsons movie.
44:01Hayden:Oh yeah? Yeah. The new Simpsons movie.
44:04Mitch:Yeah. Uh you well, like we had mentioned, you got Kingdom Hearts four.
44:09Hayden:Yeah. So I haven't played three. Uh I played one and two. And I I really like those games have no business having a soundtrack that good. Uh so like the the they're really like nice games. And if you try to explain it, even even back when it came out, like, hey, so take a bunch of Final Fantasy characters and put them in a Disney stuff with like Nikki and Goofy, people would be like, what? But like, you know, it's uh it's a fun game. I really enjoyed it as a kid, and yeah, um I was excited for the third one. I never got around because it was PlayStation at the time. I'm sure you I think it's on Xbox. I just never got around to doing it.
44:48Mitch:Well, back when they first started coming out, too, like there wasn't all these like combined universe you know, kind of movies and games where so back then seeing seeing Captain Hook coming after Mickey is kind of cool.
45:00Hayden:Right. Yeah, um but I mean it was pretty cool and uh interesting how they tied everything. They got like a lot of the voice actors back and stuff like that. I never played them, but they also kind of gave it like a a brevity, uh realism and you know, kind of darkness that came with like Final Fantasy games, right? Which was really interesting and cool. Um, especially for for Disney to be edgy like that. And it blew up. Yeah, everybody had them. Like there's there was so much there's like all the Game Boy games that no I never played, but everybody had them and all the little toys and stuff. So those were those were great. Three came out, it came out way too late. I think it was like I don't know, 15 years between two and
45:41Hayden:three. Yeah. And uh it didn't do very good from what I understand. So well, I don't know what they're gonna try and do with four. I mean, if we're keeping it real, Sora, the main character for Final Fantasy, he would have came out in like 2002, 2003, you know, and he was uh 14, 15 back then, so he's gotta be pushing 40 now. So yeah. If it if it's maybe it's like three years later, not you know, ten years later or whatever.
46:12Mitch:So uh well let's see. You also had they announced uh Coco 2, which that movie was alright.
46:17Hayden:I thought it was a great movie.
46:18Mitch:Um I remember my wife bawling at the end. I've only seen bits and pizzas, pieces.
46:24Hayden:That's a great movie. It's got good music.
46:26Mitch:My kids never wanted to watch it, so uh you got Incredibles 3, which is coming out. Uh there's a new movie called Ghost Market, which it's some new animated movie. I didn't really see a whole lot about it.
46:36Hayden:Is it Pixar or Disney?
46:37Mitch:I think it's Pixar.
46:38Hayden:Oh, okay.
46:39Mitch:Uh you got Lilo and Stitch 2, which will be the live action. Yep, yep. There. Uh Percy Jackson and the Olympians, which will be, I guess that's a TV series, right? Yeah.
46:48Hayden:Yeah. It's okay. Uh my kids love it. I you know how I feel about kid actors. So I'm just like, meh, it's a little long for the story, but whatever.
47:00Mitch:The movie I'm excited for. The Bluey movie.
47:03Hayden:Yeah, CG though. Yeah, it's yeah, a little different, but I kind of liked how Bluey was just like simple and minimalistic. Yeah.
47:11Mitch:You know, and now they're like, I just know I'm not gonna have a choice. I'm gonna have to go see the movie because my kids are gonna want to see it. Well, they both love Bluey stuff.
47:18Hayden:My kids are outgrown Bluey.
47:20Mitch:So uh you got Ice Age Boiling Point. Are they still making Ice Age movies? Brand new Ice Age. I think it's been like 10 years since they made one. Didn't they all like I don't know? I don't know. Well, because was it no, it was when I went and saw the uh Toy Story movie with my daughter, they had a trailer for it where basically they just come blasting out of this smoke, and you you see like uh some kind of like flaming rock go through and like burn the hair off of one, and he turns and his trunk hits the other one in the face, and it's just a uh you got like Sid's butt hits the other one, hits the uh uh saber-tooth tiger in the face.
47:56Hayden:Man, all those people that were big back when um Ice Age first came out, like Ray Romano, uh John Laguizamo, Dennis Leary. It's so weird to think of them like being in a movie nowadays. Yeah.
48:12Mitch:Let's see. We have the live action tangled movie, which the characters like they saw like a little snippet of them talking about another movie. It was just like, I guess, them on stage or whatever. They they looked, you know, like they could pull off the characters. Uh you have a movie called Oswald, which I don't know what that's supposed to be. I don't know either. Uh Vision Quest, which is supposed to come out. Wasn't that a TV show? Yeah, it's gonna be a TV show.
48:38Hayden:It wasn't an original No, that was Wanda in Vision. Okay, so there's a show about Vision.
48:42Mitch:This one's about him, and they show like that Ultron is still alive. How? I think it's inside his his circuits and inside his mind.
48:51Hayden:Again.
48:53Mitch:So like he doesn't have a body, but he's still there. Which that's I mean, in the comics, that's kind of how it goes. It's like letting AI out onto the internet, it's always there somewhere.
49:03Hayden:You know, it's it's it's shows like Game of Thrones or books like uh Red Rising that really make me appreciate, you know. You gotta watch or read stuff like that to differentiate from these shows that just bring people back from the dead. You know, like there's there's nothing worse than a really good death scene for a character that you admired and you're sad, and you you know, you're like, oh, you know, he went out like that or whatever, but then he just shows up mysteriously and like I didn't hear no bell ring, you know. And you're just like, come on, let he was he's diminished now.
49:45Mitch:Uh see the next one on here is Zootopia 3. They don't have a release date for it, but I'm sure it'll be big. There's some movie called Clay, which from the little bit I saw, it looked like it was a claymation movie, which that'd be different.
50:00Tom:Yeah.
50:00Mitch:Uh there's a movie called Hexed, which is basically it's like a female Harry Potter animated movie, it looks like.
50:06Hayden:Yeah, I don't know about that.
50:07Mitch:I mean it's not it's not Harry Potter, but it's the same thing where she goes to a school movie. It's a Pixar movie.
50:12Hayden:Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Or a Disney movie or whatever.
50:14Mitch:Uh and then Frozen 3 was announced where the Northern Knights comes back.
50:20Tom:Okay.
50:21Mitch:But like I know at the very beginning of the little trailer, they show where uh Anna and Kristoff are getting married and this interrupts their marriage. Oh Olaf comes in and he's like, hey, they were doing some kind of mouth to mouth. So but it it it still looks funny, you know.
50:39Hayden:Yeah. You know what they need? A new Fantasia movie. But like what?
50:45Mitch:It takes a lot of drugs to make Fantasia. Yeah.
50:49Hayden:I I'm just saying, like, if they because they did Fantasia and yeah, it was weird when it came out, but if they did a Fantasia where it was like crossing different uh IPs, and they had all these you know big musical numbers and stuff like that, and it was just pure sensory overload of so like the uh was I forgot what the the where it's called now, but it's like the fireworks show that they have at uh Epcot. Or they just show different stuff.
51:16Mitch:Or no, not just the Hollywood Studios uh but yeah, it's basically Mickey is being attacked by Maleficent, and then like the Jafar shows up as like the the snake, or you've you've got uh Moana shows up to help him stop something else, or Aladdin shows up to help him fight, and all sorts of stuff.
51:33Hayden:Maybe I don't know, just like some dumb whatever excuse that Mickey has to go into different universes, yeah. And uh, you know, but like make it like huge and big with Disney money and uh have cool music and just an excuse to see all your old you know favorite Disney movies again.
51:52Mitch:See uh Mickey ride the back of Simba into battle.
51:56Hayden:Something like that. That'd be fun. Just make it about the the nostalgia factor for us, no, for us don't yeah, don't do all the CG nonsense.
52:06Mitch:Uh because you got the Wolverine game that comes out here soon, which they've revealed a little bit more of it. Like I saw some scenes where as you're fighting, uh Sabretooth was fighting alongside Wolverine. Oh, yeah. Uh there's one scene, like it was a cut scene where Mystique actually saves Wolverine from like in the middle of it. And they did reveal that it it's a little more not it's not like straight on just like attack and kill. There are some stealth missions, but they said that you kind of gotta kind of measure out you know, parrying some of the soldiers as they're fighting because they're like cybernetic soldiers, they're not just regular people. So you kind of gotta parry some attacks and stuff to help build
52:41Mitch:up your rage, which then when you start attacking and just tearing people up, some of the enemies will actually run away from you.
52:46Tom:Yeah.
52:48Mitch:I'm really interested in it because like the what I've seen looks pretty cool, and it's its own storyline, so it's gonna revolve all around like weapon X and everything.
52:56Hayden:Have you been playing anything?
52:57Mitch:You know, uh I played Wildlands a little bit, yeah. Which was fun. I mean, it's it's a 10-year-old game now.
53:03Hayden:They've remasted well, they've not remastered it, but they've like updated.
53:07Mitch:Yeah, they updated the graphics where it's 60 frames per second and 4K. Yeah. So it I mean, it's a lot of fun to play, but it's the same story. They did add a new mission, but I haven't gotten to it yet.
53:16Hayden:So I've been playing a game uh called Beast of Reincarnation. Oh yeah. It's from Game Freak.
53:22Mitch:I did see something about that.
53:23Hayden:I hadn't played it, but Yeah, the people who did Pokemon. Oh, okay. So uh this is their first, I think, third uh like all console game, you know. Uh because it was on Game Pass. So and uh it's a weird game. It's it's pretty, it's it's a really beautiful game, uh but man, like so you start off uh the plot is tough to explain. It's like 2,000 years in the future, and robots and stuff take over, and you play as a little uh you know, Chinese girl or Japanese girl, and um she's the I don't I I can't remember what they call her, that's like a purifier or something like that. But she's basically got this uh this like growth, this like she's her ponytail has got like weeds growing out of it. Okay. And she can like do a superpower where she can uh like make it
54:19Hayden:grow a stump, like a a log, and she can run on it or use it to jump really high or whatever. And then she can obviously got a katana and she can like integrate it with her attacks and stuff, and you have a dog partner, it's like a white wolf. Yeah, its tail has got that too when it can do things like shoot, you know, spikes and stuff. Okay. But anyways, like it takes itself very seriously. It's a very serious game. And uh, you know, you uh it reminds me a lot of kind of like Metal Gear Solid where it's like the later Metal Gear Solid games where it's weird and you don't really know what to expect. And you upgrade things in a weird way and you find better kind of resources and stuff that gets to where you're going
54:59Hayden:better, and you're navigating this like uh post-apocalyptic world where robots attack you and these like overgrown forest monster things attack you. Uh-huh. And uh, you know, it's it's really I I I've seen that some people gave it middling reviews because they they considered the gameplay repetitive. And I'm I'm probably about halfway through. It starts you out with a lot of abilities that is very overwhelming. Like your skill tree is ridiculous, and uh for for a game like that, and you're never gonna unlock everything. And so learning the attacks, it's got combo attacks, which you're I'm not great at. I don't remember how many times I gotta push the right button. It's got a butt mash. Uh you know, I just I find one thing that works for me and I
55:45Hayden:just do that. Um but anyway, so you you you you upgrade all these abilities and you keep going, and then each world has a different layout. Like the first world is um like a field, a big old plane. Right. The next world is kind of mountainous, uh, the third world is like uh very foresty and so on and so forth. And the the different a lot of people didn't like that they use the same enemies to attack you. I don't care as much. But you know, I I enjoyed like the the scenery. It is kind of limited on what you think you can do um in the game, like oh I can go over there and then you'll hit an invisible wall. Oh yeah. Um or so it's not open world. I mean it's like a it's open world until it's not.
56:29Hayden:Okay. So, you know, like you can see basically how the map is on and where you can go, but you see an open field and you're like, I'm gonna go that way, and then you just run into an invisible wall. So uh but yeah, and then like the the the skill tree and gameplay mechanics are way too complicated for this game. Uh so people have been rating it at a seven. I I I kind of agree with that, uh maybe a little bit higher. Um, but you know, I'm gonna finish it. It's it's free for me, so I'm just been enjoying just a goofy story that I have no idea what's gonna happen.
57:00Mitch:So yeah. I mean, the next thing uh really only had to talk about was uh was it a Green Lanterns? Yeah, the the T the lantern or so yeah, the lanterns, the TV show because green is stupid. Technically, we're while we're recording comes out tomorrow, but you'll be hearing this on Monday, so it came out last night. Good for you. But uh it looked pretty good from the trailers I've seen. And I'm interested to see Jon Stewart, Guy Gardner, and Hal Jordan all on screen at the same time.
57:27Hayden:Yeah. Which one's uh Nathan Fillion?
57:30Mitch:Uh Guy Gardner. Okay he was the same same one he was in Superman.
57:34Hayden:Does he ever get a haircut?
57:36Mitch:I don't know, but I hope so.
57:38Hayden:Alright.
57:39Mitch:Does it want the bold cut?
57:41Hayden:And Jon Stewart is the black guy who's uh Yeah, he's like an army sniper. Who's the other guy?
57:46Mitch:Uh Hal Hal Jordan. Alright. I forgot what the name of the thing is.
57:49Hayden:I think Jon Stewart's always been my favorite. Because he was the one in the Justice League, right? Yeah, yeah.
57:53Mitch:Jon Stewart's in the the animator one, yeah.
57:55Hayden:Yeah, yeah. Yeah, that was that was my favorite.
57:56Mitch:I always liked him and then uh what was the other one? Um Kyle Rayner. He was the one that was an artist, and so he could make all sorts of stuff. Crazy thing. Yeah. He had like made like a whole mech unit machine one time and just sat down inside of it and started fighting.
58:13Hayden:That's cool. Yeah. They seem like they're all very angry about something in that.
58:19Mitch:Yeah, I mean it it's basically established like all this stuff has been there for this series because Sinestro's already in jail when it starts, or at least from what the trailer shows. Who's Sinestro again? Uh he's the the Yellow Lantern, but he's also the one that trained Hal Jordan. Who plays him? I don't know.
58:37Tom:I can't remember.
58:37Mitch:I can't remember the guy's name. Alright. But it's the it's supposed to have like the the robotic manhunters, which was like the first guardians that uh the guardians, like the ones that give all the Green Lanterns their powers. They created the manhunters first to you know patrol and protect, and they ended up turning evil thinking that well no one is good enough. So they just hunt down everyone.
59:00Hayden:So the Martian Manhunter has nothing to do with LM? No. Oh, okay. That's where that's where they were going with it.
59:06Mitch:Wait, because you have the Martian Manhunter, but these were called the Manhunters, and they're just like robots.
59:11Hayden:Alright.
59:12Mitch:Alright.
59:14Hayden:So I don't know. I'm having a hard time caring about either DC or MC.
59:19Mitch:It did get like an early review, it got a 90%, so I'm hoping it's good. I'm hoping it's good because this character is I I like all the Green Lanterns.
59:26Hayden:I'm just And you know what they're gonna do? They're gonna leave it open. At the end, it's gonna be a big old cliffhanger, and you'll be like, no.
59:32Mitch:Well, yeah, supposedly this is supposed to bridge the gap between uh Supergirl to uh Man of Tomorrow.
59:38Hayden:What's Mana Tomorrow?
59:40Mitch:The next Superman movie.
59:41Hayden:Oh and what the Clayface movie seemed interesting.
59:45Mitch:Yeah. That that comes out in October, which basically it's just like a horror movie. So I'm I'm wondering how they'll tie that into Gotham other than it just being Clayface.
59:53Hayden:Yeah, is Batman gonna even be in it?
59:54Mitch:I I I would imagine he would probably have like a cameo or Well, who's gonna be Batman? Robert Pattinson. But I mean, granted, if you just see like him on the rooftops chasing or something like that, who knows?
1:00:06Hayden:Yeah. But who knows?
1:00:08Mitch:It supposedly it is supposed to tie in with the penguin and Batman as far as in that world. I don't know if it'll connect story-wise, but it's supposed to be in that world.
1:00:17Hayden:I guess we'll have to wait and see. I think I'll, you know, the end of this year will be pretty interesting for a lot of the you know, triple A movie franchises because they're writing a lot of money on you know, Doomsday and all these other DC movies and stuff. The Star Wars crap is coming out. Like, uh are people gonna be tired of it? Probably not. Probably worth.
1:00:41Mitch:So I mean, granted, I'm big into comics. I enjoy it though.
1:00:44Hayden:Yeah. I just want to see something new.
1:00:48Mitch:True. I still want to see Mandalorian Grogu, which actually I found out comes out September 2nd on Disney Plus. Oh, okay. So I want to see it. I didn't have time to go see it in the theater, so people didn't like it. I mean, I really enjoyed the Mandalorian story, so I just want to see what happens.
1:01:03Hayden:Yeah.
1:01:03Mitch:That's why I didn't go pay for it.
1:01:05Hayden:Well, I think that's about all we can talk about for this episode. No, I can keep going. I know it's a lot easier to talk when Tom's not here.
1:01:14Mitch:It is, because you can actually get get words in. I know, isn't that crazy?
1:01:18Hayden:But we gotta wrap it up anyways.
1:01:20Mitch:So it's been a long day.
1:01:21Hayden:Uh tune in next week. We're gonna have a special guest, uh, a guy that we saw his movie premiere invites to. I don't know if you saw our social media.
1:01:30Mitch:Yeah, down at the uh Atlanta Plaza Theater.
1:01:33Hayden:So uh we get to talk to him through his process and how he came up with it. He he he made it from scratch, all the way from nothing to something, and it's impressive. The whole that that's the stuff about filmmaking that really gets me going. I really enjoy all the little little details that can get people past those hurdles. And uh to hear from somebody who did it fresh. I'm excited about that.
1:01:55Mitch:So it between now and this next episode, try and find the movie Dementium and watch it.
1:02:00Hayden:It's on Amazon.
1:02:01Mitch:It's on Amazon.
1:02:01Hayden:Uh I think you don't have to pay for it. I think it's you can just watch it.
1:02:04Mitch:I don't know. I hadn't got a chance to pull it up there.
1:02:06Hayden:So but rate it, give it two thumbs up or whatever they rate it for. So they do stars. Stars. Give it that, give it all the stars. All right. Well, that's it for me, Hayden. Goodbye from Tom.
1:02:21Tom:And goodbye from it. unknown: Goodbye.
1:02:30Mitch:Now you all have to remember still being reported.
