0:04Mitch:What the hell.

0:09Hayden:Play with us, Danny.

0:11Mitch:Play with us.

0:16Hayden:Tales from the Crypt.

0:20Are you afraid of the dark? Thank you very much. I forgot about that.

0:23Mitch:Oh there it is.

0:23Hayden:I hear it now. Yeah, that, forgot about that. Oh, there it is. I hear it now. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know that. All right, yeah, ah, that's a nitro it happened. I used to be terrified of that show. That show was scary as hell, more so than Goosebumps.

0:40Yeah, there was one episode that bothered me the most. It was this one where this comic book character comes to life and it was like the jester, like the Joker grin, but he was like a goblin looking thing, yeah.

0:52Tom:The vampires in the hospital.

0:54Hayden:one Mine was the goopy looking dude that would turn into a puddle and come under your door and everybody was like what's that spell?

1:02Tom:Because there was like the one where there's like the vampires are in, like this hospital or whatever, and like the girl like runs to the nurse and it's like, oh, we'll do this , this and this. She's like all right, thanks. And she goes to like get other help and the nurse turns and you see the bite marks in her neck. It's like she's one of them. Don't trust her.

1:19Hayden:All right. Well, hello to video games. My name is Hayden. With me I have Mitch and Tam Hi Tam, and today we are going to be discussing how to survive in a horror movie if you are unfortunately in one, or in a set of circumstances that would.

1:36Tom:That will eventually be, you know, adapted. Everybody has that friend.

1:42Hayden:That friend, that's like you know. Oh, I heard a spooky noise coming from that decrepit looking haunted house over there . Let's go check it out. And you see movies like that and you're like I would never be that guy but then you have a friend and you're like, okay, so there are, it's just horror movies that are dumb horror movies are an unfortunate, you know, conglomeration of all those people, being those stupid people. I don't know, maybe it's like some form of weird natural selection. Supernatural selection, that's what we'll call this episode.

2:15Tom:Supernatural selection Mitch write that down.

2:23Hayden:We totally rehearsed all this, so before we get started, let's go ahead and knock out social media.

2:26Well, you go to entertain this podcastcom, which will take you to our facebook group and page entertain this exclamation point and entertain this exclamation point podcast. You can also go to our twitter, which is at this, entertain. We also have our instagram, which is entertainthis, and then we have our youtube tiktok, which are entertain this exclamation point.

2:44Hayden:Well done, well done. Don't you know the rules? What rules?

2:48Tom:There are certain rules that one must abide by in order to successfully survive a horror movie Horror, For instance number one.

2:56Anyways, we're doing.

2:57Hayden:That was JB Kennedy, wasn't it yeah?

3:00With the original scream.

3:01Hayden:Nails on a chalkboard voice.

3:06Tom:I thought that was Leonardo DiCaprio or something From the Departed, yeah from the . Departed. Who's the Departed?

3:14Hayden:All right, rule number one being in a horror movie, just don't. You're going to let me squander through this.

3:22I was going to let you say that first one Don't be in it, don't be in it, don't be in it.

3:28Hayden:If you're in a horror movie? Just don't.

3:29Tom:Thank you for listening. This is entertaining. I'm Tom that was Hayden.

3:33Hayden:You better turn that into a comedy real quick. That's your only chance. All right, Mitch, what do you got?

3:40Well, the first thing I put down, I kind of stole from Zombieland Don't be the hero. Yeah, heroes die, that is true.

3:46Tom:Yeah, if you're in trouble and Mitch is there, you're done.

3:49Hayden:Just accept your fate , mitch is not going to come save you. He wouldn't even save us in a video game, you think?

3:56Tom:he's going to put his life on the line in real life.

3:59Hayden:Yeah, no, you're gone . You might as well just kill yourself. He's already slow, so you know he's going to take every advantage of these guys.

4:05Slow what do you mean I'm going to outrun you out of the car?

4:08Hayden:Especially if he takes your knees out. So I think the best movie that encompasses some of these tropes like that, points them out, you know, and why these characters die, is Cabin in the Woods.

4:20Mitch:Yeah.

4:20Hayden:And Chris Hemsworth's character's like I'm going to be the hero, I'm going to jump this canyon in a motorcycle to get away and get help or whatever.

4:30He just crashes into that invisible barrier and you see his body tumbling down well, there's the part where they're standing in the cabin and they're like you know, we should all stick together. And then they turn up whatever gas it is. It messes with their mind, and they're like no, we should split up. And they're like, no, we should split up. And they're like yeah.

4:47Hayden:And the one guy that's saying it is like no. Why are you doing?

4:53this that's another rule Don't split up.

4:55Hayden:Yeah, as Rex Quindell once told us oh my God, we're going back to that one time.

5:01Tom:Just this one quote. We used the buddy system.

5:05Mitch:No more flying solo.

5:07Tom:That was good advice.

5:10Hayden:That was good advice. Yeah, what's a famous example of splitting up that has gotten people killed? I guess Alien, right?

5:18Tom:Yeah, Alien's a great example.

5:19Hayden:Because they all split up for some reason. Look what's killing people.

5:22Or Predator, when they all split up one at a time to get killed by the Predator.

5:25Hayden:Well, you've got to give it a fair chance. Okay, I mean.

5:29Tom:Predator wasn't going to take them all at once. That's too much. Man Predator knew it. He's like I've got to take them all out systematically.

5:36Michael Myers. He hunts them down one at a time.

5:40Hayden:Well, he hun, he watches and waits until they're individually by themselves.

5:43Tom:So does Jason. Another great one. Keep it in your pants.

5:49Yeah, if you have sex you're going to die. That's pretty much a given.

5:53Tom:That's a trope, but it's also kind of like one of those if you're in a supernatural setting and weird things are happening, it's like that should be one of the last things on your mind.

6:00Hayden:I don't know why, but I'm so turned on right now. I'm so turned on right now. I'm just so horny, All the gore . I guess a good example is obviously Friday the 13th, because Kevin Bacon and what's her name Getting stabbed through the hammock.

6:21Tom:Oh yeah.

6:25Hayden:She was mad because the killer ends up being Michael Myers or not, like Jason Voorhees mom.

6:31Mitch:Yeah.

6:31Hayden:The other movie, spoiler alert.

6:33Mitch:In 1980. I know.

6:35Hayden:And then, but she, she's mad because the counselors are all having sex and stuff like that, so she goes around and kills them. And it's because they were having sex when her son died, or something like that. Isn't that exactly what she said?

6:48I don't know if it was exactly that. I know they weren't paying attention because they were too busy all aboard the downtown pound town, doot, doot.

6:59Mitch:Doot doot.

7:01Hayden:Yeah, but yeah, I mean I don't know, but that is a funny trope that is carried on and it's just to get some shameless you know sexploitation into your you know Scream Queen movies and stuff like that.

7:14Tom:Here's some boobs. There you go. All right, moving on.

7:17Hayden:That's why I liked well, there was some boobs in Halloween, wasn't there?

7:22Yeah, she died.

7:25Hayden:She got strangled by a phone cord. Yeah, so shouldn't have gotten undressed.

7:28Tom:Shouldn't have did what you done. Did yeah.

7:30Hayden:Shouldn't have done the nasty. That's why Jamie Lee Curtis lived so long. Yeah, she was a virgin all the way up until today, even her grandkids. They're all adopted.

7:41Tom:She learned, she's like not going gonna get me, like that she's protected by the power of chastity that's so stupid moving on yeah

7:55Hayden:taste gives you the haste to get away.

7:58I was stealing another one.

7:59Hayden:I just got all these slogans coming out of me stealing another one from Scream .

8:02Never say I'll be right back, yeah, right, yeah, cause you won't. They won't see you again, at least not alive.

8:08Tom:Something will happen that will detain you for an extended period of time, or you'll just die.

8:13Hayden:If we are all out in some, like if we're driving somewhere and our car breaks down on Highway 66.

8:21Mitch:Highway 666.

8:23Hayden:We've got to walk the next three miles through a graveyard or whatever and I have to pee. You guys are going to see it.

8:31Tom:I'm not leaving you, we're not even going to stop walking, I'll just turn around, walk backwards.

8:40Hayden:Don't mind me Nance.

8:44That'll bring you to the next point. If you fall, get up.

8:47Tom:Yeah, stop trying to crawl. Just get back. It'll take you less time to get up.

8:52Hayden:Let's focus first on why you're falling all right, don't forget how to walk. To begin with, that seems to be a problem. Did everybody get clown?

9:00shoes before they went to a haunted mansion. A lot of times it's always the female in high heels or something like that.

9:06Tom:And that brings us to another point, which is dress for the occasion.

9:11If you're going to the murderer's house, make sure you're dressed appropriately.

9:15Tom:Perhaps pumps might be in order this time.

9:17Hayden:Maybe some Skechers. I'm going to wonder my Sunday best when I get moided.

9:23Yeah, that was. My next thing I wrote down was wear athletic shoes.

9:26Tom:Yeah, let me wear my four-inch high heels and a sundress. I can get caught on literally everything.

9:31Hayden:Hey, if Tom Cruise can run his platform shoes, why can't I?

9:35Hey, he runs pretty successfully in that thing.

9:37Hayden:He runs everywhere.

9:38Tom:The more he runs, the more successful the film.

9:40Hayden:He spent like 50 years learning how to do it.

9:44The next thing I wrote down was don't investigate the strange noises.

9:50Hayden:What was that? That was me. Yeah, just claim it all.

9:57I fart when I'm nervous. The next one I wrote down was make sure you trust the animal's instincts. When animals are growling at the door, what is it? What is it? Fido are growling at the door.

10:05Hayden:What is it? What is it, Fido? What's at the door?

10:08Tom:If dogs can tell you it's a Terminator, you're good. If you're at the house alone and all of a sudden your dog gets up and he's staring into the wall and just starts losing it and barking at it, it's just like, clearly there might be something on the other side, If a dog looks at you and says your foster parents are already dead . Believe him Also. Stop doing drugs.

10:31Mitch:Stop doing drugs, stay in drugs, don't do milk.

10:37Next thing I wrote down was well, this is like a two-part thing. Never walk in the back of the line. Also, don't be in the front. Either way, you're one of the first ones taken out.

10:48Tom:The last guy. He gets sneakily taken down. The dude in the very front gets horrifically taken out.

10:52Mitch:So everyone sees it and screams.

10:55Tom:You're walking down, boom, booby trap spikes hit you in the chest, then your guts fall out and everybody's like, oh my god, what do they decide to do? They just keep going.

11:04They're just like oh no, mike. Well, if you'll notice when we play video games. That's kind of what I try to do . I let one of y'all go first, and then I try to be in front of the other one. Yeah he gets mad if you get too close to him.

11:15Hayden:Don't die next to me Die over there. They won't.

11:19Tom:Which is living these Because the Battle.

11:23Royale games are a horror game.

11:24Mitch:To me they are a horror game, I'm just trying to live.

11:31Then another one is I said don't trust anyone, just pretend to.

11:37Hayden:Gain their trust so you can sacrifice them.

11:41Well, you got to do what you got to do, you know.

11:43Hayden:So you're the guy that's like, yeah, go see what that noise was.

11:46Tom:Yeah, go for it, buddy, We'll be right here While he's going.

11:49He's going to slow down the monster or the killer.

11:51Tom:It's like, all right, he's going towards him, he's going to die. That gives us about five minutes of a head start that way .

12:05Hayden:Yeah, like the problem with that philosophy, though, is Mitch, once you've sacrificed all your friends.

12:07Mitch:you're going to be by yourself, well hopefully by that time I've gotten away.

12:09Hayden:You're like timing it ? There's about a half hour left in this movie.

12:12There's still three of us Next. I wrote down don't go into the dark. Darkness equals death. Yeah, you know, that is true, the people that walk into rooms, or they'll go in with a candle to light the house.

12:24Tom:Yeah, why bring a light source so we can just go? Pfft, a strong ghost of you know, a strong gust of wind perhaps. Yeah, if they can rip your heart out, they can probably blow out the candle Best example of that not with like a candle going, like you know, pfft is Darkness Falls, falls with the kids like having the nightmare and he's like hiding and his mom like goes into the dark room and she's like there's. It's just like murder fest. Just blood everywhere.

12:48Hayden:She's like flying up and down the ground, just blood everywhere, and it's just like, say you killed your mom that movie was one of the first like just pure jump scare movies I ever saw and I just I hated it so much. And then, on top of that, it was like where is the darkness? Exactly Because there's shadows , but there's super dark shadows and some of the shadows are okay but the other ones are not. They're just darkness in general or whatever the plot decides darkness is.

13:13Tom:Treat it like the krill from the first Gears of War.

13:16Hayden:Okay, if there's not sunlight, stay in light Direct sunlight.

13:20Tom:Stay in direct light, because if you go out of it then the evil demon, vampire birds come and kill you.

13:26Hayden:And the third reason that movie pisses me off so much is it's about the tooth fairy.

13:30Tom:I can't get over that Hayden lost a tooth after he saw the movie. He was like no.

13:36He's throwing it out the window.

13:37Hayden:He's like yeah, I'm just mad that I'm scared about a movie with a tooth fairy in it. They did that. Somebody was like tooth fairy's scary, it takes your teeth.

13:46Tom:What's next? Santa Claus Money. Yeah, they're doing that, Krampus.

13:49Hayden:What's that violent night?

13:53Tom:movie David Harbour. But he's not like horror Santa. He's like Santa in a bizarre set of circumstances where he's got to be like Bruce Willis and die hard.

14:02Hayden:Oh, so it's like the fat man. Yeah, pretty much. As opposed, gotta be like bruce willis and die hard. Oh, so it's like the fat man. Yeah, okay, as opposed to santa sleigh.

14:10Mitch:Which santa is the horror. He is the monster. Yeah, he is goldberg. Ho ho ho.

14:12Tom:He's like ho ho ho at a strip club all right next.

14:17I put you know self-preservation, stay with children, because I typically survive yeah, you don't see many kids get taken out in horror films.

14:26Hayden:Unless it's a Stephen King horror film.

14:28Tom:Yeah, or Are you Afraid of the Dark?

14:30Hayden:Well, if you stay with kids, they either don't die or they don't die horrifically. That's true, yeah, they just I don't know.

14:38Tom:They get a gentle.

14:40Hayden:Yeah, they get drowned or smothered or something.

14:42Tom:Or what's that? A Quiet Place? Yeah, they get drowned or smothered or something.

14:47Hayden:Or what's that? A quiet place? That kid did not die quietly, oh no, he got annihilated.

14:51He got wiped out.

14:52Tom:He got hit like a running back getting hit by Ray Lewis.

14:56Hayden:I did establish the rules of how to survive early on and he did not listen.

15:00Tom:No, and he could hear . Yeah, he could, he was not paying attention.

15:05The next thing I put down was carry a weapon because, for some reason, Stay strapped Steak knives are the only thing that people like to carry.

15:12Tom:Steak knives. Steak knives, get the fillet knife because that's way sharper .

15:15Hayden:Or a crowbar, or a bat or something, something with range.

15:19We live in.

15:19Hayden:America Grab a gun.

15:20Yes, America grab a gun.

15:22Hayden:Yes, this is America that is annoying. You might as well go in with a wiffle ball bat. There will be cops that get mangled to death. Their guns will be by their corpses and people will step over them with their shard of glass.

15:34Mitch:Yeah, you know.

15:37Tom:Their chandelier.

15:39Hayden:They've got a tire, rim or something like that, a guy with a stick they found in the yard.

15:42Tom:Yeah, a lawnmower blade that's like rusty.

15:47Hayden:I'm going to whop him with his hubcap.

15:50Mitch:The hell with that. 9mm Guns are bad. 50 rounds of ammo.

15:56Hayden:Alright, what else?

15:56you got Mitch. Don't go into basements.

16:00Tom:Yeah, basements are bad. Particularly dark and scary Video games are annoying because they force you to do that, and the whole time you're like I don't want to, I'll sit here and stare at the choose button. It's like go in basement or still go in basement.

16:13Hayden:Go in basement or die . What kind of death are we talking?

16:16Tom:about you know what. Let's just see what happens. What if?

16:19Hayden:I just stand here and wait it out. That's why horror games take me forever to beat, because they'll be like you know. Creepy Cave is the next level and I'm just like this is a good stopping point.

16:29Tom:I will play PUBG with my friends, you know what the sun has gone down.

16:32Hayden:I think I'm done with this movie.

16:36Yeah, the next thing I said was in horror movies, don't approach a kid, that's alone.

16:41Hayden:Oh yeah, because he's .

16:42Oh yeah, he's the killer, or possessed, or whatever.

16:44Tom:Yeah, there's something, he's bait something, you look like my dolly If the kid's alone leave him alone or leave her alone, are you?

16:52Hayden:My daddy, my daddy Like have you ever seen that movie Coraline?

16:57Oh, the one with the button eyes.

16:58Mitch:Yeah, that's essentially best horror movie for well it's just the most horrific.

17:12Hayden:It's creepy to look at much less. Yeah, they're like going to take so buttonized your actual eyeball stuff like I remember watching that with my.

17:15Mitch:My daughter and I was like I'm kind of freaked out.

17:16Tom:How is she doing so? Yeah, so you got this movie's fantastic.

17:20Okay, creepy uh the next point that I put down was avoid abandoned buildings. Avoid abandoned buildings.

17:29Tom:Yes, avoid abandoned buildings, Go do unabandoned buildings.

17:32Hayden:Well, that's like every horror movie Cabin in the Woods. You know, evil Dead or they buy a previously haunted or abandoned dwelling. An insane asylum, you know, derelict hospital. I just wonder if people are like. You know, this is a cool place. I'm gonna go explore it, this old factory of slave workers that happened, you know, on an indian burial ground 100 years ago. I'm gonna go in there and I wonder if anybody's ever like hmm, I wonder if I'm in a movie right now, so I had one of those moments at uh statesboro.

18:03Tom:There's like an old meat packing place that like got burnt down or whatever, and I wonder if I'm in a movie right now. So I had one of those moments Just for the night. At Statesboro there's like an old meatpacking place that like got burned down or whatever and apparently like the person who like ran it killed like four people.

18:13Hayden:Just saying this is apparently true, the meat massacre of 86.

18:18Tom:Or probably earlier. But we went to the building and the whole time like all of us are like why are we going? It's like just to say we went, everybody's been here, yeah, and my buddy's like all right, he's like I'll go, but we're stopping at my house first and we're like, okay, so we go. He changes into boots, he comes out, he's got a loaded shotgun. I'll kill me some ghosts he hits me a Glock, it just goes. He's like stay strapped, You're not going to get attacked by terrorists.

18:47Hayden:You're going to get killed by a maniacal meat massacre.

18:50Tom:He's like one of two things. He's like out of the place it's going to be legitimately haunted. We shoot our way out onto the highway. He's like either way, or there's like a bunch of tweakers doing drugs, that's a fair point. He's like I'm not getting stabbed with dirty needles today . And he's like and if we don't go with numbnuts and his buddies , it's like they're going to go anyway.

19:11Hayden:It's like this is for their protection. Yeah, for my freshman year of film school I did a zombie movie where this guy like woke up at a frat party and it was in like an abandoned. you know, because, like, like high school kids, they always go to like some like old nearby colleges to do or something that's like, you know, an abandoned building where they can get away and have neutral ground where there's not going to be any supervision. So he wakes up, he's in this giant uh hot sauce costume. Okay, and it's funny because it's got the. The nodule on the top is floppy , so so while he's running around screaming, the entire time this floppy nodule is going .

19:48That sounds like something you'd work on.

19:50Tom:I'm surprised it wasn't the T-Rex costume.

19:53Hayden:He wakes up and he goes into a room and he sees this like grody-looking dude eating a bowl of something red, okay, and this guy chases him throughout the entire haunted house with the entirety of the movie and then at the very end you find out it was just some like tweaked out druggie on meth , you know. And he kept saying brain, but he was trying to say Brian. He thought it was his friend Brian, and the cop shows up and the cop's name is Brian and he was like he jumps in his arms. He was and he's like hey, he jumps in his arms. He's like I know, buddy, let's take you back to rehab and stuff . And the guy's like so that was a really bad movie.

20:33Tom:So you'll never see it. Your review of it, though. Thank you. Your telling of it was fantastic.

20:38Hayden:Yeah, the pitch went a lot better than the movie did. Yeah.

20:41All right. Well, the next thing I put down is if something's too good to be true, it probably is.

20:48Tom:That's just good life advice.

20:50We're going to skip over that one. But the next one is listen to the crazy people.

20:54Tom:They tend to tell you the truth If a weird local person? Man or woman comes in, but not that stupid. Repent for your sins, you know, not that stupid crap. But if, like, you're at like one of these far, off kind of towns. You're staying in that weird village, you know, with the cabin for.

21:11Hayden:I wouldn't go up that road. If I was, I wouldn't go off that way.

21:14Tom:If I was you, a young man and they talk, you know weird, and they start telling you all these local myths and legends it's, it's like probably true.

21:21Hayden:Yeah, Pet Sematary is like the best example of that the cat goes into the ground and a demon comes out, and it's like what. Yeah, and he's like I don't know, I've been drinking a lot. That's essentially what happens .

21:34Tom:It's basically like Dracula, where he's like going up in the beginning to the castle and the locals are telling him like all the stuff about Dracula, like not to travel at night, they give him like a cross and like some special stuff and like they throw paprika at him because they're a hero. What a wonderful culture it's like if that happens to you stay at the hotel with the people because they know better.

21:56On to the next thing If you're in the movie, if someone goes missing, just assume they're dead. Yeah.

22:01Hayden:They're gone, just assume they're dead. They're gone, they're lost. Well, that's Mitch's take for sure.

22:06Tom:That's a Mitch suggestion by far.

22:08Hey, I'm trying to help people out here.

22:10Hayden:No, you're not. No, you're not. Mitch would be the guy that turns around and Tom's tying his shoe. He's not even in his field of view.

22:17Mitch:Tom's dead Move on.

22:21Tom:It's like Mitch, I'm literally crying.

22:23Hayden:He just pushes him and runs away.

22:27On to the next part, mitch just starts stabbing me.

22:32Hayden:It's like there's nothing we could have done for him. Gotta leave bait, Might as well take advantage.

22:40The next nugget of advice I left was if you get caught, don't just accept it. Actually fight back, because you got some that are just like they die. They're like ah, yeah.

22:48Hayden:Ah, but I remember I was hiding in a trash can for Halloween one time to scare a bunch of trick-or-treaters in my house and most of the people when you pop out and scare them, because I took mental notes of how people would react. Right, it's either fight or flight.

23:05Tom:So most of them just drop. They're just like Like Andy's home, yeah.

23:07Hayden:They're like oh, I'm dead. You know, like that's their gut reaction.

23:10I've seen that too, yeah.

23:11Hayden:And I just like look at it. I'm like come on you know there was one like three foot fairy plum. Princess, she kicked the crap out of that trash can? She came out with a roundhouse, she just went roadhouse and she was like oh, I'm so sorry, and I was like, no, you did good, that's what you're supposed to do you get extra candy?

23:32Tom:Call a doctor.

23:33All right on to the next part. Always assume the monster is still alive, or the slasher, or killer, or whatever.

23:41Hayden:We shot it and it's like left pinky. It must be dead. Let's give it a wide berth and just like turn our backs for a little while, like they'll get one shot on it.

23:50Tom:It'll fall and like just kind of lay there. It's like, oh, we did it, thank God. And then they just drop. It's like no, walk over and shoot him in the face, yeah.

23:56As many times as you can him 16 times.

24:05Hayden:You've missed all his vital organs.

24:06Tom:Yeah, shoot him in the head repeatedly.

24:07Hayden:Yeah, the thing like halloween, halloween's bad about that. In the first one and the most recent one, where, like, the town beats him up for some reason and they just like he's down, they're just like, oh okay , they're talking about it. Like, yeah, we did, we killed him. You see, that kick I gave? Yeah, and he does like the the vampire pop up and just like murders everybody. Yeah, it's because they turn their backs. Shouldn't have done it.

24:30Yeah, the next one I put down was stay away from the antiques, because those typically end up being cursed in movies.

24:35Hayden:Yeah, the haunted spatula.

24:40Tom:Of the great spatula massacre of 1944.

24:44Hayden:Turns into a burger and flips A hash-slinging slasher.

24:49Also, if you're a girl, never babysit or be home alone at night.

24:53Hayden:Well, so okay, but there is a trope to be said that the girl is in a position of power over the children. So because of that, she is the babysitter. Since she's that person, she'll probably live, because those kids have to be taken care of.

25:08Tom:I don't know If those kids get a lot of speaking lines early on, she's probably going to die.

25:12Hayden:Well, yeah, if they're intelligent.

25:14Tom:If they're showing some sort of intelligence to the kids, if they're square pegging in a circle hole. Like yeah, babysitter.

25:22Mitch:Oh, you want a piece of.

25:24Tom:It's like yeah, there it is, Damn it Now we got to watch the kids survive.

25:27Hayden:Yeah, if you're babysitting on Halloween and you walk in and the kid's got a calculus book, just say nah tonight, nah tonight you sound like you could take care of me. If you walk inside and the kid's just got crayons in her nose, I think it'd be okay.

25:41Tom:Are you a baby Marine ?

25:43All right. The next part I had was keep your car in working order, so when you go to run away your car doesn't just sputter and die. I didn't put gas in my car.

25:52Hayden:How do you not put gas in your car?

25:54Tom:Why are you always running out of gas? If that was a thing that would kill a lot of girls.

26:01Hayden:That's true. That's true Always. On 85, there's a car on the side of the road and there's just some girls sitting there.

26:08Tom:I don't know what happened. It's like we all know. It says empty. You forgot to figure it out. E doesn't mean extra fuel.

26:19Hayden:But then there's always that supernatural like your car exploded and your cell phone just devolved into a brick or something. That part always drives me crazy, like oh, everything just broke. But then they never question it . They're like darn cell phone, oh this old car.

26:31Tom:It just broke, but then they never question it. They're like darn cell phone. Oh this old car. It's like no, this is 2022. If my cell phone just stops working, there is foul play afoot.

26:39Hayden:Yep, you can immediately start running in a direction, because you're probably already haunted.

26:44I want to go on to the next one, which is stay away from clowns.

26:48Hayden:That's in real life and in horror, yes, the One listener who's going through clown school right now is having a hard time with their podcast Clown school's in Florida. Clown college, clown college, clown college, that's their motto.

27:05The next part is don't stop to help strangers on the side of the road.

27:08Tom:Yeah, you don't know them. Yeah, that could be the trap. They could be the killers. Wasn't there a movie where what you should do is line up, hit them with your car, take their stuff and then keep going.

27:19Hayden:Well, now you're the monster.

27:23Tom:Or that guy's going to come back next summer and try and get revenge. Yeah he's going to dress up like Sam Gordon the fisherman, or whatever, yeah, but.

27:30Hayden:Sam Gordon the fisherman or whatever. Wasn't there a movie where a hitchhiker was a serial killer and the guy that he picked up was also a serial killer? Or did I dream that?

27:40Tom:I can't remember that would be a great movie, though that sounds familiar.

27:44Hayden:Or what if they thought that each other was a serial killer, so like they picked up a third. They're plotting. They're very cautious the entire time, thinking that they're gonna the other guy's gonna kill. You know stuff like that.

27:57So the entire movie I think that'd be a great movie two paranoid people just sitting in a car.

28:02Hayden:I'll sit in the back. Why are you sitting in the back ? Why do you want me?

28:07Tom:to sit in the front, I feel like this is also another film that the pitch is better than the intro.

28:15Hayden:I can pitch him, I just can't make him.

28:21We already kind of mentioned about keeping your cell phone charged. Another one you can't be alone, but you also have to avoid big parties, because that's when somebody goes missing.

28:31Hayden:It's usually the person that everybody wants to have killed in the first part. Like the, douchey. Michael Cera characters.

28:38Tom:You know like, and in that case we kind of let that go. Yeah, it's kind of like your first warning Like yeah that one went, but Like the killer was watching and like the whole time just went all right him first.

28:52Do these guys a favor . Like you're, the douchebag, jock yeah.

28:55Tom:Help you guys out for a minute. After that You're all on your own, yeah.

28:59Hayden:Next I have to listen to the news, with their literally being yeah there usually is like a little bit of foreshadowing, like so-and-so bridge has collapsed and they're just moving on to hearts on fire or something like that this fire tornado Hunt the killer, turn the tables.

29:21Mitch:Who cut the power we did why?

29:23Tom:Because F him Bravo 6 going dark.

29:27The next thing I have two that pretty much go hand in hand. Put down creepy books and when you find Latin, don't read it out loud.

29:36Tom:Yeah, if you find a disturbing leather-bound book that feels like flesh it probably is Leave it alone. If it has an eyeball on the cover, not good, put it back. Put it back where you found it. Don't try to burn it, just replace it where it was and never talk about it ever tom would be that guy.

29:53Hayden:It's like you know, I took a latin class in college once. Let me show you guys how much latin I know I don't know he'd read it.

29:58I don't know why this guy getting dark wow, thanks tom, you guys all killed but uh, that's all the basic ones we'll move on to. I had a couple for certain uh characters or certain monsters here. Okay, like when you, when you're vampire horror movies.

30:17Hayden:Yeah, don't hunt the vampires at night.

30:19Tom:Yeah, that's just obvious.

30:20Hayden:And wear a neck collar. I mean, come on, in all the supernatural episodes, why did they put one of those puffy neck collar things on?

30:28Mitch:Because you can be bitten arms legs Because they don't want to be a pirate. They don't want to be a pirate.

30:34Next thing was when the creepy weirdo shows up at your house, don't invite them in .

30:37Hayden:That's typical vampire stuff and don't sleep with your windows open. And if some inbred toothless guy gives you directions to some place, use Google Maps.

30:47Tom:Yeah, why are you even asking for directions If you can't find it on Google Maps ?

30:52Hayden:it's not real. If he's eating a squirrel on a stick, he's probably not the source material, especially if the squirrel is still alive your vacation needs up.

31:00Well then, you also have like in Bram Stalker, which goes to my next point.

31:03Hayden:Bram Stalker, bram Stalker, whatever Bram Stalker, I'm from the country Back there.

31:09Tom:Bram Stoker, he's done, seen what he done, wrote this time, man, I can't read.

31:15Anyways, when you come across a creepy, pale guy, he's probably the vampire.

31:19Hayden:A creepy pale guy. Yeah, he shows up only at dark and he walks around with his arms crossed like this the whole time.

31:29Yes, we'll move on to zombies.

31:30Tom:The first part is stay out of graveyards well you know, don't take strolls through them that's basically like walking through like a horde area.

31:38Right, yeah, it's like cue the doom music we've all seen zombie movies enough, so aim for the head yeah.

31:45Hayden:Or if you see a zombie, don't study it for like 30 minutes, like, is that a zombie?

31:51Tom:yeah, don't start taking notes, don't be like hey, are you dead, shoot it or run. That was the next part.

31:58It says you can outrun it, so try.

32:00Tom:But this is like the typicals, like the Shaun of the Dead zombie is like the most realistic-ish kind of zombie. Yeah, like if we're in like Resident Evil style when they sprint and have monsters and all kinds, I'm just going to be off myself.

32:14Hayden:I'm done. Or if it's like Walking Dead, where they do a complete 360 pan and there's nothing in the area and then the guy takes one step and then five zombies jump on him.

32:25Tom:I don't get how anyone's ever been killed by zombies sneaking up on them in the Walking.

32:29Dead. That goes to my next point. If you smell death, it's probably around, so go the other way. Oh, did you fart? Oh? What's that smell.

32:37Tom:God, it smells like somebody died. I don't understand. Wait a minute.

32:41Mitch:How does a rotting corpse sneak up on people?

32:44Even if it was quiet, it would stink To high heaven.

32:48Tom:In the Georgia summer .

32:50Hayden:Maybe it's cold, I don't know. Maybe there's a skunk nearby, I don't know.

32:53We're moving on to werewolf movies. Don't go looking for the werewolf during a full moon.

32:57Hayden:Yeah, make sure you have a lot of doggy biscuits.

33:02Tom:Some beef jerky, perhaps Distraction devices.

33:05When you're sitting at dinner and George over there starts uncontrollably growing hair and going. Don't go, george, are you all right?

33:13Tom:For like 30 minutes while he's transforming.

33:15Hayden:Yeah, george is not all right, he's got a condition.

33:19Leave him alone. And then the last little bit I had was about ghosts and demons. Locking the doors doesn't help, yeah, because they just float through the wall in a salt circle. You can leave the house, you can try that.

33:34Tom:Yeah, if they're bound to a particular, it's always the dad in a ghost movie.

33:38Hayden:They'll buy a house and it'll be on an Indian burial ground or something.

33:41Tom:And the whole family's like we don't like it here. Dad's like shut up. Do you know what kind of pain I'm in?

33:48Hayden:I can't take another hit of my credit. We'll all die before I leave.

33:50Mitch:You're going to live here and you're going to like it .

33:53Hayden:It takes your kid being sucked into a TV before you're like. All right, maybe we should consider the alternative. All right, we'll move to Cleveland, I'll take the job.

34:04The last thing I put on there for the ghosts and demons was don't play with Ouija boards. Let's talk to the ghosts. Let's invite it in. No.

34:13Hayden:No, yeah, there's always kids that are like that. They want to do Light as a Feather or play with Ouija boards or go and explore stuff. I don't believe in ghosts or any of that crap, but I'm not going to be the guy that's like antagonizing. Let's go in there.

34:33Tom:Yeah, let's not see if we can contact it. Yeah, exactly, so you know. And then, to a lesser degree, for space, the final frontier. If you're in a supernatural setting and on a spaceship, maybe corral everybody to one particular part of the ship and cut the life support systems to the rest of it.

34:48Hayden:That's a good point.

34:52Tom:Yeah, that's a good point. Yeah, I'm just saying time it can be done. Time is a factor through the whole plots of multiple space horror movies out. I'm just saying why hasn't anyone just done that. Yeah, that was dumb but you're just sitting there going like damn it, he just made so much sense.

35:08Hayden:Maybe they didn't know how like as an alien like they're all like weird jobs, like truckers.

35:13Tom:Maybe they didn't know how Like an alien they're all like weird jobs, like basically space truckers Leading the demon or killer or whatever into the airlock.

35:18Hayden:Yeah, so I don't know .

35:24Tom:The well-lit, well-labeled airlock. It says it like five times when you press a button and flashing lights go whoop, whoop, whoop.

35:34It's like probably a sign you're in the airlock. That's all the rules I'd come up with. Did y'all have anything else?

35:40Hayden:life support system yeah, that was a good one. Yeah, if you are dealing with alien, anything I don't know, don't touch it don't play with it, you don't know what it is.

35:51Tom:You're not a scientist if you touch it. I'm not going to be like Hayden Brandon, it's always like there's some goopy, nasty looking juicy something. They're always dipping their hands all the way into the elbow .

36:07Hayden:They're looking at all the stringy stuff coming off of it like what is it? And then their arm explodes.

36:13Tom:I'm surprised.

36:14Hayden:Oh my goodness.

36:15Tom:How on earth could this have befallen me?

36:17Hayden:Yeah, or there'll be some cute-looking not even cute, it'll just be like an alien something, and it's small and insignificant.

36:24Tom:They'll be like hey, little buddy, what are you doing ? And then it's like, ah, and then it bites their face off.

36:31Hayden:I'm surprised. Everybody who's watching is like no, no Shark movies.

36:38Tom:Easiest way to beat them is land.

36:41Yeah, yeah, just going to throw that out there, unless you're in deep blue sea, where they just jump out of the water and eat you while you're on the station. That is true.

36:49Hayden:Land sharks. They cause their own destruction.

36:51Land sharks.

36:52Hayden:Or if they're in a tornado, yeah, in.

36:55Tom:Deep Blue Sea. They effed up in reverse.

36:57Hayden:They gave them titanium. Fins who thought that?

37:00Mitch:was a great idea.

37:02Hayden:The whole point of Deep Blue Sea drives me nuts because they're like studying these sharks to cure Alzheimer's . So they make them like monster sharks.

37:08Tom:They make them mega sharks.

37:11Mitch:Bigger, stronger, faster, smarter, better.

37:12Hayden:I just want to see the guys doing the budget for this science experiment. Why the metal fins For science and the one guy?

37:21Tom:goes. I mean it'd be pretty cool.

37:22Hayden:The guy's like I see your point it is cool.

37:27Tom:Just slightly impractical, but the whole plot of Deep Blue Sea is like them getting the surface to escape. It's like they have to flood it .

37:34Mitch:Yeah.

37:35Tom:Instead of just climbing.

37:36Yeah.

37:36Tom:Because sharks swim. They forgot that crucial tidbit of information. Point that out.

37:44Hayden:They learned that lesson too late. Three people died because of that.

37:48Tom:Yeah.

37:49Hayden:Yeah, another thing for let's like, for instance, it , for instance, right. So, um, that's a. That's a movie that kind of plays on the tropes in in weird ways. There's a plot explanation like why the parents are stupid and the kids are the only ones that can save the world, or whatever of the town of dairy.

38:10Tom:Everybody just seems oblivious to everything going on .

38:12Hayden:Because the clown entity essentially makes them forget the kids that they eat, that it eats and whatnot. And in the book, the only way that the clown doesn't want to eat you is if you have sex. I kid you not, there's a whole chapter in that book, oh yeah, where they all take turns. Yep, gang banging, yeah, I kid you not, there's a whole chapter in that book oh yeah, where, like they all take turns, yep, gang banging. Yeah, you know and so that's like a really strange and I wonder if Stephen King did that on purpose to, like you know, turn the page different for the whole sex trope thing so but I'm trying to think of other movies that play on tropes like that, like do a complete polar opposite, but take it seriously,

38:53Hayden:not like you know. Tucker and Dale, like you know, zombieland with, like the tips, what do you?

39:01Tom:mean Limber up, yeah, cardio, oh, like that. Always check the back seat.

39:05Hayden:Like they're self-aware.

39:06Tom:Yeah.

39:06Hayden:Yeah, that's a good one, you know, but I can't think of any other movie that's like completely spins it on its head. I guess it follows. You know, have sex, to pass it forward.

39:17Yeah. So, but don't have sex and it won't.

39:20Hayden:Yeah, but if you do.

39:24Tom:It's coming for you All right. It's not like the Jinusake from the longest murder of all time.

39:31Mitch:Was it when it's a?

39:32Tom:horror thing. This guy gets passed on this seal. It's like it follows. But it's just this dude. His face is painted white. He's got the black eye thing. His eyes are going up in two different directions, like it. He's got a black hoodie on and he just chases you with a spoon. What?

39:47Hayden:is he doing? He just hits you.

39:50Tom:He like the dudes in the shower and the curtain just pops and the guy just goes. He just hits you, ow, ow, stop. The guy's like laying in bed trying to sleep, he's just like.

40:03Hayden:And nobody can see it but him.

40:05Tom:Yeah.

40:06Hayden:Could you imagine him like trying to get a date Just like this?

40:12Tom:And when you think it's over it's been like years. He's like all gray and like he hits him with the spoon and the spoon breaks and the guy just goes ugh, like finally it's over and he just unzips his jacket and he's got spoons everywhere.

40:25Hayden:This is a YouTube video.

40:26Mitch:Yeah, it's like a YouTube video. That's great.

40:34Hayden:That's an awesome one , the Junio Sake. Alright, what are we doing next , mitch, I want to play a game. Uh-oh, that took a turn. I spent my time working on that .

40:53That was good, that was good, all right. Well, we are doing five.

41:03Hayden:This is my buzzer.

41:04Halloween trivia, which will be focused on basically all the Halloween movies that Jamie Lee Curtis is a part of that are actually canon.

41:13Hayden:I feel like we should make new buzzer noises for Halloween.

41:16Mitch:We should have thought of that before this.

41:18You're a little late.

41:19Hayden:All right, we'll do it next episode.

41:22Where was?

41:22Mitch:my trivia. Oh, there it is, huh.

41:23I don't know, I need a pen. I need to borrow this. Borrow your good pen.

41:29Hayden:Yeah, yeah, there we go, that'll work alright, so I've seen two Halloween movies and not this year, so Tom's gonna win, but I'll give it the good old college try.

41:38Tom:I haven't seen any of these in quite some time you remember the doctor's name, right?

41:44Hayden:yeah, okay, well, you're doing better than me don't be looking.

41:51Don't be looking. What are you doing? I was looking to see if the pen was running out of ink. There's more pens behind you. All right, we'll start off with number one. No, what was the name of Michael Myers' sister?

42:04Hayden:Judith.

42:04Yes.

42:06Hayden:Yep.

42:06That he killed? Number two what year was the original Halloween?

42:16Hayden:74 no 1978. Yes, darn, it.

42:22Number three Freaking idiot. What Halloween costume was Michael Myers?

42:28Hayden:A clown yes, Well done.

42:32Mitch:What.

42:33Tom:Halloween costume was Michael Myers wearing, trying to lure me into a false sense of security?

42:37Hayden:I haven't seen any of these, I just remember because the clown was, they were considering him being a clown instead of the Reverse Shatner yeah which is probably one of the questions he's giggling, because it is. It's the next question.

42:51Tom:Number four.

42:52In what city does Lori live?

42:54Tom:Haddonfield.

42:56Hayden:Yes, illinois, yeah, but they shot it in California, though there's palm trees in the background.

43:03Tom:They're flown in Number five.

43:05What was the name of the boy? Lori was babysitting. Oh man.

43:10Hayden:I didn't mean it, I'm just going to guess, charlie.

43:12Tom:No, tommy, yes.

43:15Mitch:You would remember that it's my name.

43:19Hayden:Stupid names.

43:20Tom:Stupid names, stupid remembering things.

43:22I can't. I hate you. All right, number six. What was the name of the institution? Michael Myers was locked up in.

43:30Hayden:Pleasantdale. No, all right, I thought it was a good one. Georgia.

43:34Tom:Regional Georgia Regional I don't know.

43:42Hayden:Valley View, grace Point. No Sunshine no.

43:47Tom:The Charles Edward Cheese House for the Criminally Insane.

43:52Hayden:It's something happy, isn't it? No, oh.

43:55Tom:Okay, lunatic, crazy People Dump Place. It's something happy, isn't it? No, oh Okay.

43:57Hayden:Lunatic asylum. Crazy people dump place the.

44:00Smith's Grove, sanitarium Number seven In Halloween, resurrection what is the name of the reality show that invites guests to spend the night at Michael's childhood home?

44:12Tom:MTV's Cribs.

44:16Hayden:Hey, we heard you like ghost stories. Welcome to the Halloween episode of's Cribs. Hey, we heard you like ghost stories. Welcome to the Halloween episode of MTV Cribs. It's going to be something stupid because it's a movie that wants to make up its own stupid name for a TV show.

44:30Tom:Of course it's going to be stupid, so it's going to be like MTV's Cribs.

44:33Hayden:It's going to be like Ghost Fanatics or something like that. I don't know. I don't know all right.

44:42well, I wrote down four choices to pick from. Okay, ghost facers america's most haunted paranormal investigators, or danger tainment, danger, yeah, I was like it's got to be?

44:55Hayden:Is it danger-tainment ? Yes, yeah, that's what I thought. As soon as I heard it.

45:00Tom:I was like, yes, that's totally it that's stupid enough to be in a movie that was so stupid.

45:05I believe every bit of it. Number eight what is the killer called in the script? Oh, the shape.

45:12Hayden:Yeah, that was a good callback.

45:15Number nine, michael Myers is the antagonist in all Halloween movies, except what.

45:22Hayden:Oh, halloween 3. Yes, I was going to say Freddy vs Jason.

45:29Tom:There's a lot of movies he's not in.

45:30Mitch:Well, yeah, you're right, he's not in the sound of music. Them Nazis.

45:38Tom:Just show him lurking in the background, like this isn't my movie. Focus on him.

45:42Number 10. Who does Laurie kill at the end of Halloween? H20? .

45:52Hayden:Michael, a fireman.

45:54No and no Damn.

45:57Hayden:Oh, it's somebody who's like a, a copycat killer of michael.

46:03I don't know the name , michelle if you can just tell me what they were doing, like what their profession was cop no I already said firefighter, paramedic. Yes, I knew it was something. Emergency services. It's a paramedic dressed as Michael Myers.

46:20Tom:That's when she swings the axe and hits him in the face and the guy's trying to go like, oh, I don't know. Because, Michael broke his throat.

46:27Yeah, they thought Michael Myers was dead, so the paramedic was supposed to be moving him and Michael had just changed clothes with him.

46:36Tom:So she kills the paramedic. How convenient that that guy was also 6'5" and built like that.

46:39Hayden:He was a great paramedic.

46:42Number 11. Who played Tommy in Halloween?

46:45Tom:Seth Green.

46:46No Halloween. Curse of Michael Myers.

46:51Tom:Paul Rudd.

46:52Hayden:Yes, oh man. Well, sound like good, it oh man.

46:56Well, sound like good . It's eight to two.

47:01Hayden:I'm happy to be on the board.

47:03Number 12. How many movies does Curtis play Laurie Strode to date?

47:10Hayden:Seven no Six.

47:13Yes.

47:15Tom:I was going to say five, and then Hayden would have said six and one. I was like you know what no, six, yes, I was going to say five, and then Hayden would have said six and one. Yeah, I was like you know what no, tom.

47:20So far, because the newest one hasn't come out. She's played her character in six movies. Oh, come on.

47:26Hayden:It's been viewed.

47:28It hasn't come out for people to watch. He already gave me the point, he already wrote it down. It comes out next week.

47:31Tom:It Too late, fine, the damage is done In the original Halloween.

47:34what was Lori's hobby ?

47:37Hayden:Knitting yes.
