0:03the sudden shift in energy. It's like, mitch, you're ready. Yeah, it's button, whoa. It's like alright, buddy, let's think about 10% off there, take down a notch okay, mitch, okay, why is that even good anymore? How long is that hot sauce really been sick? Yeah, it's potent stuff, isn't? It strong still yeah, I'm surprised it melted through the bottle. Still is this glass is glass, it has to be glass plastic. It would have already melted and fallen through the floor. Rated that it'd be halfway to the core right now going through the earth that stuff is strong, man, I took a whiff you just think there are people. There's someone out there who enjoys this yeah like for leisure or leisure. Hey, what I forgot.
1:04I was like we should do an intro those tingling this is a fog guys about movies, tv shows, video games and hot sauce reviews. With me I have Mitch and we're still missing Hayden. He's still out there in the cave doing the entertain this show to squirrels yeah we're trying to reach out to our animal audience. He's an ambassador to nature.
1:28Hayden:He's our entertain this foreign correspondent oh, there we go, got you a new title .
1:33There we go, there you go add that to his resume, foreign correspondent Hayden. We just need to get like random blips where he's just like I'm out here.
1:42Hayden:I told him if he's ever able to contact us, I'm just gonna have like in the background that'd be funny anyways, our social media is entertaining yeah, we have that entertain this podcast dot com, which will take to our Facebook group and page. Also go to our Twitter. Twitter slash X, which is entertain. Wait, no, at this. Entertained. Yeah, you did it so good, the first time our Instagram, which is entertained, not this, and our YouTube and TikTok was entertained. This exclamation point.
2:14I'm really surprised you haven't written it down and laminated it and just like tainted to your mic see, in my first book it was written down in the very front the book you left on my car and then, or the book you left on your car and then drove away. Yeah, and it went flying in the air and I think I'll run out into the street and grab all.
2:28Hayden:I still have that book. It's just at home it's just full it's full, yeah, so I had to get a new book at least you have a book?
2:35yeah, you're prepared .
2:36Hayden:I'm not yeah, at least I write down stuff and research well, it's better than 70% memory retention over here yeah surprise, remembers his name, so cuz it's sewn on his own anyways, in this episode we're going to review a kind of a punishment movie that was given to us by our friend, nathan Marchand, from the power trip podcast oh, this was him.
3:02Yeah, I have.
3:03Hayden:Now I have some of the blame cuz it's thanks Nate, he also does the monster island yeah, they do like the kaiju I forgot the name monster. I monster island podcast.
3:14I might be saying that wrong yeah, they do the Power Rangers one in the. They do like a kaiju.
3:19Hayden:Yeah, related one oh, the monster island film vault. That's what it was how have they been? I talked to them about possibly doing a show about kaiju here, not to not from too long.
3:31You know we'll see how it goes yeah, that'd be fun do our top 10 kaiju or kaiju films or something like that as long as they don't shout trivia and cheat, not following the rules but they're a rogue podcast.
3:44Hayden:They don't play by the rules anyways, in this episode we're gonna kind of review this punishment film, which was Godzilla versus Megalon that was terrible, it was very, it was very 70s. Yeah, japanese cinema Godzilla it was made in 1970s. 1973 the budget was $760,000 was it really? And it got a 4.8 on I'm DB.
4:10I remember seeing this on VHS and my parents house in the basement there's all the old VHS tapes. There's like a box of Godzilla ones now granted, like Godzilla vs Monster Zero, godzilla vs King Kong, godzilla 1984. Those are viewed as good movies , like as far as like the old Godzilla movies, like you know, dudes in the big suits beating up action figures and running through models.
4:37Hayden:I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure when I read earlier this in an article, it said that this was the first Godzilla film that was directly, you know, brought over to America. As far as like when it released in Japan, they dubbed it and then put it in American or put it put in English they didn't put it in American.
4:55You man dang, oh god. So man, everything you know, big old monster. This was the first one that came over here like directly.
5:04Hayden:The other ones came on later. When you know that like the originals and stuff like that, the first guys though that was like the 50s, yeah, but this was the first one that came like directly when it released in Japan and also released in America there was a worldwide release so that's why it's a little bit this is King Kong. That was a much better one that's why this one was a little more popular, even though it's bad yeah, it's, it's not good, it's not good at all where did you watch it?
5:30I watched it on Amazon.
5:32Hayden:Okay, it was free with ads okay, yeah, I watched it on a, was it.
5:35Plex, which yeah, yeah, just go on Amazon.
5:38Hayden:I didn't know what's on Amazon and then I didn't. It's also on HBO Max. I didn't know that. Yeah, that was yours, dubbed or subbed.
5:46I don't have HBO Max. No, I have your HBO Max. Yeah, yeah, it logged out.
5:51Hayden:OK.
5:52When we get done. You could just log back in before you leave. So I go watch something, no problem, thanks.
5:57Hayden:But was your sub dubbed.
6:00Mine was dubbed.
6:01Hayden:OK, mine was subbed the whole thing, so I had to watch it subbed.
6:04Oh, so they're just in Japanese.
6:05Hayden:Yeah, and you're having to read the subtitles. Yeah, I was reading that.
6:08That was probably better.
6:10Hayden:No, it wasn't, because I couldn't pay attention to it well enough to read everything, so I'm just watching stuff go on.
6:14I can't watch and read oh what are?
6:17Hayden:you saying I wasn't able to keep it all together. So, I kind of know what was going on in the movie visually.
6:24Because I watched this New Year's Eve.
6:28Hayden:I watched it like a couple of days before you did.
6:30That was yeah, it was yeah my girlfriend took a nap and I was like this is a perfect time for me to watch this horrible movie because I know she's not going to watch it. Ok, I told her I watched it. I was like I watched this without you. I was like for the podcast and I was like it's a terrible movie . I was like I figure, while you're in Africa, I just do this , watch this. And she goes, thank you.
6:49Hayden:So in this movie, like it starts off with like um, there's like little boys like paddling in this little boat thing.
6:57I don't know I don't even think he's paddling. He's got like a remote, like I think it's like battery power or something, and he's like on a dolphin and it's got two fish on the side and like two little handles and they're, like you know, going back and forth Like like a old, like steamboat.
7:13Hayden:Yeah.
7:14And he's just in a lake and he's just like, look at me. I'm like there's two dudes just having a picnic watching them and they're just like, all right , look at him, he's having fun. Yeah, you want some of this. Yeah, yeah.
7:25Hayden:Yeah, that's good stuff.
7:28That's that. Yeah, that's actually like 80% of what they sounded like.
7:32Hayden:And then all of a sudden you have like the water starts like whirlpooling.
7:35Yeah, bubbling, they'd like throw the kid a rope . There's an earthquake.
7:39Hayden:No, they don't throw a kid a rope, they have a projectile.
7:41Oh yeah, he has like a. He has like a harpoon gun and like the perfect shot, like the very end of that rope hits the kid in the shoulder and just drapes on him and he's like oh yeah, this is nice and then they pull him to shore. Yeah, cause they're doing like nuclear testing. Yeah they're, which like destroys, like part of monster island.
7:59Hayden:Yeah.
8:00And like some monsters like fall into it and God's. It was like no. And then like this is like a side effect of it, where, like they're doing that and like the lake like drains out, like they rescued the kid Cause, I was like is this kid about to buy it ?
8:12Hayden:I was like this is kind of dark for it. Well, they do all that, but you don't see any monsters right here at the beginning.
8:17Um, except for like Godzilla. You see Godzilla, you see Rodan , and he got like the little spiky dinosaur, but he falls in the pit, yeah.
8:25Hayden:That's like, um, this is going on, and then with the kid, the two guys, they go back to this bunker.
8:34Do they go to their like uh, did they go to a bunker ? I just watched this film. I'm just still caught up in how bad.
8:42Hayden:the acting wasn't good so they go to the bunker that has like the Jaguar robot in there.
8:46That's like his house , which is like has, like you know, like like Star Trek, like doors opening up and like they, the guys, like a sports car and they don't think it followed. They get followed by two guys. They get followed by like an Eastern European, like like a rescue and looking fella, and then like a Japanese guy with a mid part comb over with a lot of curly hair and like they're following them. You don't know why.
9:12Hayden:Yeah.
9:14Their place got trashed.
9:15Hayden:Yeah.
9:16But like jet Jaguar. Yeah, that's what they call it, jet Jaguar. There's like a lifeless robot body without a head. Yeah, that's just there. It's brightly colored yellow, red, blue, silver. They put on like this really pointy like he looks like the green goblin from Spider-Man.
9:33Hayden:He does the help? Yeah.
9:34The helmet, like he's horrifying, like if you just saw that you'd be like, oh, they put that on him, he turns him on and he's like subservient, whatever. And then the two guys, they bust in, they beat up the kid, they beat up the two dudes, knock them out, and then they like reprogram.
9:52Hayden:Well, after they jet. Jaguar after they break in, it goes on to like they contact somebody and it goes to this next scene where it looks like a bunch of people are dancing in space and like it literally looks like they went to Wheel of Fortune under the ocean and like like a 70s Las Vegas casino is immediately next to the wheel. That's awesome, I say. They look like they're in a casino.
10:16It's like the silk robes, dumb head like head, sir. They all got the 70s hair comb overs, big sideburns and mustaches.
10:23Hayden:Yeah, the like, the, the, the, the leaders wearing like the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the like a Toga, yeah, and he's just dudes with slot machines. Dude, he was so hairy it looked like he's wearing a sweater.
10:31I thought he had a shirt on. I was like, oh my. I was like, oh no, I see nipples. That's body hair, that's just body hair. That's what that is.
10:38Hayden:He's a. He's a Toga and crown yeah.
10:41With Megalon's head on it.
10:44Hayden:It's like, well, they're doing some kind of dance or ritual or something. They wake up Megalon.
10:50I had to read because I guess the nuclear testing was disturbing them under the ocean . Okay Cause, like even they talk about like flippantly in the car ride on the way home, where there was like this like ancient race.
11:02Hayden:They missed that.
11:03They like sank beneath the ocean, but apparently they all survived. They developed their own.
11:07Hayden:So these people are on the earth? Yeah, they're on earth I thought they were in space or something.
11:12No, they're not in space, they're just underground, like they're under the ocean, but they like have like a ecosystem and like oxygen and whatever, and they live down there. Okay, and Gigan's like there or no, not?
11:22Hayden:guy. Gigan comes from space. Megalon comes from under the ground. Yeah, I don't know where Gigan came from. Gigan comes, yeah.
11:27He's, he comes in later but they get. They wake up Megalon and the glowing light bulb in the mountain he spawns the spy, still the robot. Yeah, they take over the robot. They kidnap One. No One of them escapes Harry guy escapes. The flashy guy who's like sporty, looking with the with the fancy car. He goes off and chases them.
11:55Hayden:Yeah, and he's like Dope is car race or car chase ever?
11:59I know.
12:01Hayden:It's not like like Labor D's or nothing.
12:03It's like these, it's it's a van. It's like a van truck thing and like a go cart, with that's road legal and he has gloves on while he's driving. He's driving, gloves on.
12:13Hayden:It's like he's a race car driver, yeah.
12:16He's like I'm just an average race car. Yeah, they're galvaning around, but the the people under the ocean, they wake up Megalon to go and destroy humanity and they're tired of their shenanigans and new con stuff and, like you know, they're basically like they're the downstairs neighbor and they really got tired of just hitting the broom into the ceiling telling them to knock it off. This time it's like we're calling the cops.
12:37Hayden:Well, during the car chase, though, did you see where they went down the steps?
12:41Oh my, it's like they were chasing. They were chasing. Yeah, they drive downstairs, they drive downstairs, they drive down the set of steps.
12:48Hayden:They just like jump into a ravine. That just keeps on going.
12:50It was not good. Not good. Feel like I'm, we're missing part of the beginning. I just don't know. Because this whole movie where you were just sitting there like tripping, like what am I watching? Like is Godzilla gonna show up?
13:06Hayden:but like the, the, was it? The kid gets kidnapped.
13:11Yeah, they kidnapped the kid.
13:12Hayden:He's in like a big crate.
13:13Yeah, they kidnapped, I'm assuming, his father, maybe older brother. I don't know the guy who invented jet Jaguar. Yeah, that's what they call the robot jet Jaguar.
13:23Hayden:They basically got them in a connet box on the back of a truck.
13:25Yeah, they're. Two dudes are just driving that guy. Guy, get an idea. Megalon shows up. The army shows up, which turned out to just be toy tanks and little plastic men. Did you see where they're shooting the rockets? It's literally a freaking action figure.
13:39Hayden:I didn't do no.
13:40Yeah, there's an action. It's just an action figure sitting on top of a tank. It's like you and I'm like. That's like literally a painted piece of plastic, like that was not, even, like no one fell for that.
13:54Hayden:No one fell for that army and stuff attacking him, but I didn't see like the actual figures yeah.
13:59So Megalon shows up and he's got like no serrated pointers like out of metal on his hand. They come together like a drill , yeah, and they spin, yeah. And I'm like how does that work that you're just ripping your own forearms and he can fly? Well, the wings don't move, the wings pop out and then he just takes off.
14:25Hayden:Yeah, as he's like, like flies up like Voltron but while the armies attacking him, the like, the people are driving away and the Kinnett the two people and they're there on Xbox goes like something happens, they wreck and the connet sparks is ready to fall.
14:40Well, no, they're like dump them over the dam.
14:42Hayden:That's right, that's right.
14:43And then Megalon shows up. They panic leave like. He was teeing off with a driver . We the dad, the whoever, the guy in the kid go yeeting into the sky Land and they, like they , tumble out of the box like they should have been like in pieces from like. Like you don't need, like you know you need a mop, like it's like taking an egg and just shaking it and then you crack it open. It scrambled should have happened. And then, like after the jet Jaguar is working for the underwater people. Yeah, at the moment at the moment because that's what the creepy hair guy and the swarthy looking fellow were doing, yeah, and like that dude got beat up like five times before they killed him. Who the Do with the part?
15:37Who was like controlling Jaguar . Yeah, like they fought him, he knocked him out. They fought him again. I locked him out. They fought him again. Like the dudes just still there controlling PJ really just show up, beat them up, leave. Come back, beat him up again, leave.
15:54Hayden:Like.
16:03So dumb. Oh my god, this is like what I remember, why I was like what I'm not drunk enough to watch this.
16:10Hayden:But then the guy somehow, like he has like this little whistle thing that this is. Yeah, he has like a personal Like communicator. Yeah so to speak he's just be with a sight.
16:22He has to be able to see judge out. You were to do it. I'm like that's.
16:26Hayden:It's not how radio waves work.
16:27No. So if you tell me, if he was like behind a tree, you knew he was there but you couldn't see him because of the tree, you couldn't make it work. So jet Jaguar is supposed to lead Megalon to Tokyo, to destroy Tokyo in typical giant monster movie fashion, as is expected inside of Tokyo or New York or San Francisco, because they get destroyed the bridge when Megalon is in Tokyo and he's fighting, they're like shooting him dude that whoever the actor is in that suit was getting rocked by oh. Like didn't fall over dude.
17:00Hayden:There was so much going on, so many fireworks were hitting that, whoever was in that suit, I was like Jesus. Beating him up before regulations in Japan.
17:12Yes, this one, you just take out a guy. This is one like workplace for town, like they could have filmed rust there and nobody would have cared.
17:22Hayden:And then what the so that the guy can communicate with jet Jaguar?
17:26Yeah, he gets judge. I, you were to go get Godzilla.
17:28Hayden:Which the robot can just talk to Godzilla like straight up, just talk he's doing like hand signals, yeah, well, yeah, I mean you know we, you we're good.
17:36Yeah, on this way, big dude like. He's nodding at him. Yeah, yeah, yeah, he does like, the royal like, and then Godzilla like does like a little like jog into the ocean.
17:53Hayden:It's like hey, it's like I know what you're talking about you mean you're on the same page. And then at this point the movie, when Godzilla shows up just always knows before that guy gone just magically appears.
18:05I think he shows up a little bit later. Okay, cuz like Godzilla goes to get, or Godzilla shows up or no . Godzilla's on his way, jet Jaguar comes back, starts disregarding orders yeah, that's right and then he flies by Megalon lands, does his like Pose and then suddenly can become as big yeah, he just grows. He just turns into like super jet Jaguar, he turns into like Voltron and he just starts beating the crap. But like they show, he's beating the snot out Of Megalon. Yeah, but he is mopping the floor and then it comes back and he's like on the ground.
18:46Hayden:It's like about 30 seconds.
18:47It's like you were winning, like you had him on the ropes. What happened? Like you were taking him out, like you were Rocky Balboa in the 12th round. With like 30 seconds, you're about to get the win.
18:59Hayden:Well then, I don't know when.
19:01Godzilla shows up.
19:03Hayden:Well, no, the one, the robots Is fighting Megalon. That's when guy gone shows up.
19:07Yeah, when he starts winning. Yeah, they pull out. They call whoever else like phone a friend to send guy Gan, who's a chicken With a metal beak, a laser visor, a spike thing on his head, he's got wings and he's got big spike hook arms. Yeah.
19:25Hayden:But then they end up using a Jaguar, a beach ball.
19:29Yeah, they're just like playing catch with them. Like Like they're playing keep away from Godzilla.
19:35Hayden:Like you can't get him, he's ours now and at this point, that's when Godzilla comes bebopping along just jogging like doing his arms Basically. Godzilla shows up.
19:48He starts like boxing the monsters, like just like straight I was punching no tail, no fire breath, just punching him and he was doing good for like a minute. Yeah, all he clears house like like rock like he shows up, beats the snot out of the two of them and, like guy game, tries to leave. Yeah, he's like like he atomic breaths him out of the sky. Megalon starts to lighten them up.
20:10Hayden:Well, godzilla beats up Megalon and like kind of gets cocky. He's like kind of cheered. He's like this is easy. That's what guy. Guy can fly and buy my cut so many blood, oh my god.
20:21There was so much blood that came out of Godzilla shoulder.
20:24Hayden:It's like it's like his arms gonna fall.
20:26It was like an 80 slasher movie. It was like guy like these is the man in the suit.
20:30Hayden:Okay, I Am concerned well, what kills me, godzilla? Then he starts beating up guy gone, even after having his arm, but he's like lacerated, open, mm-hmm. But he puts like guy, guy, like an arm bar, it's like mountain and punching him yeah, he's just .
20:47With big Godzilla punches. He's just decking him in the face and then guy game does or my Megalon does, like that, spitting the rock that explodes nonsense. Yeah and Godzilla catches it, throws it right back into his mouth. Yeah, hey go.
21:00Hayden:Yeah, he does that, but that didn't kill him. Well, no, he does that the Megalon. And then you'd pants back over and guy guns got like Jaguar, like holding him hostage.
21:08Yeah, he's just like. He's like I like the hook finger on his throat, like I can move, I kill him.
21:16Hayden:That's what the robot like shot, puts guy gone. I don't know like somehow you like picks him up, just like throws him. Yeah, I think Godzilla shoots him out of the air.
21:25Yeah, and then guy again starts beating up. Godzilla, the Megalon Diggs underground, starts popping up. Oh, yeah, yeah and beating them up. So then the two of them got him in like the rope of dope jet Jaguar's like concussed. He slowly gets back together and then the two of the guy again a Megalon are winning. And then they do like the ring of fire around the two of them. Yeah and then I was like he's just gonna fly away. I was like this is just that the judge, I was gonna fly away. I'm like did we all forget he could fly? Yeah, he can fly when he's tiny , I'm assuming he could fly when he's big.
21:58Hayden:Yes, we all forgot.
22:00So he shockingly picks up Godzilla and flies out of the circle, and then Godzilla , megalon Godzilla and jet Jaguar beat the crap out of the two of them.
22:10Hayden:Yeah, basically do it like a tag team, like oh, he's holding like a Megalon yeah, yeah, oh, my god he's basically like yeah.
22:23If you've seen memes or gifts like the Godzilla kick, one is a classic and it's in this movie. I would have wrote the time stamp down for you if I thought about.
22:35Hayden:I mean, basically he just drop, kicks a mom, the robot holds them there. Yeah, and and Judge Jaguar's fine yeah well, guy gun then, like after they do, this guy gun like flies away. I'm just basically runs away. Megalon runs like dives back into the earth like the hole like where he came out of.
22:52He's like no, I.
22:54Hayden:Mean, and then basically the Guy gun, and I'm not gonna Jet Jaguar, godzilla had like they shake hands yeah the stepbrothers moment. Do we just become best friends?
23:03Yeah, they shake hands. Godzilla tautles off back to Monster Island, or what's left of it.
23:08Hayden:Yeah.
23:09Jet Jaguar turns in back into a small guy and then into a normal into normal size jet Jaguar joins the kid.
23:16Hayden:The two guys.
23:17Yeah, and then they.
23:19Hayden:Then he goes off to check Whatever song. Yes, it's on song though.
23:26Yeah, it was a it was a crappy movie. It was such a B movie.
23:30Hayden:I did research that I Forgot the person that made the movie. But he had done like a competition in Japan where people were allowed to make a character and that it was gonna be put into the movie. Well, this was the jet Jaguar character. Was it was supposed to be a character that this kid had made and they altered it so much. They said like it brought the kid the tears because his character was changed so much. From what you know, he won.
23:54Was it supposed to be originally?
23:55Hayden:I mean, it was supposed to be some kind of a chat.
23:57You were with a jetpack.
23:58Hayden:It was supposed to be some kind of robot or something , but they said he had changed the design so much that it didn't look the same.
24:04They're basically like you gave us a really good idea. We're gonna take it and run with it and we're gonna change all of it so we don't have to like pay you anything.
24:11Hayden:But uh, yeah, this movie was not good. And it's even worse, we have to watch it with ads because it makes it like twice as long.
24:19I mean, I wasn't expecting it to be good. Like I remember watching the old Godzilla movies on VHS yeah, so I'm more better than others. They were like when you're a little kid and you just don't really get it. Like you're just watching big monsters beat the crap out of each other, You're like, oh yeah , this is cool. When you're 30 and you're watching like this movie, you're like, oh god.
24:38Hayden:I did realize watching this that I've never actually seen the original Godzilla.
24:42The black and white one, yeah, where he's a bad guy. Yeah, I've never seen that one. Yeah, 1984. He's a bad guy, godzilla. Like he switches, he switches up some of these. Whoever made the movie, he's a good guy or he's a bad guy. Yeah, I just realized I've never seen the original sound because he was like a cautionary thing with like all, like the nuclear Experiments, yeah, and there was like, oh yeah, like what, if like always cause the lizard to turn into a giant, you know Mile-high powerhouse of a monster that could shoot atomic breath out of his mouth.
25:12Hayden:So, like I said earlier, the I'm to be gave it a 4.8 out of 10. That's accurate.
25:17Well, I'm actually giving it a 4. I concur.
25:22Hayden:I give it a 3.
25:23Oh. I mean it was bad it was, but I mean, there's a charm to it. It's so corny it is that's the charm, it's. It's an old, it's a 70s Godzilla movie. You know it's gonna be corny, you know it's gonna be campy, it's that's, you know. Going in what to expect. I mean as far as like better ones like Godzilla 1984 was a good one. Okay that was like because they kill him at the end. But it's like Godzilla, like the end, and it's like is it? It's not obviously.
25:56Hayden:I like the newer Godzilla movies. They're they're pretty fun, yeah, people hate on them.
26:00It's just like, oh, it's like, it's Godzilla, it's a super huge monster dookin it out with other monsters and destroying stuff. That's, I'll tell you. I want to watch.
26:11Hayden:I talked about the monarch legacy of monsters. It's on Apple TV. Mm-hmm in a previous episode. But it really makes the whole Godzilla movie thing they got going on right now pretty interesting, because it talks about how, like the time portals and how they live inside the earth. But it's like kind of like the what do you call it? The Doctor who, the?
26:32TARDIS, yeah, like are you walking?
26:34Hayden:It's bigger on the inside. It's kind of like that. That's what that's. What they described is like it's you pass through a portal, that the earth is bigger on the inside than what it should be, kind of thing. Oh, it's pretty interesting. There's a lot of Physics that go into the different stuff they're talking about, because they're coming out with a new movie.
26:49Yeah, it comes out, it's a little minus one.
26:52Hayden:No, that came out.
26:53What's this new one?
26:54Hayden:Godzilla minus one came out in December, but that's like its own thing. Yeah almost like a remake of the original, and then there's gonna be a Godzilla and Kong versus something.
27:05Yeah, it's Godzilla.
27:06Hayden:It's Godzilla X Kong, because it's gonna be the two of them versus a different Monkey yeah, there's like a orangutan.
27:12Yeah who's not having it? But that comes out neither March, right, but then there's like the little kid orangutan running around like a tiny one. I don't know. I saw in the trailer. I don't know the trail. It's a little bit more like you got pink Godzilla. Yeah, with the pink back thing, yeah put a chicken. I don't think Disney owns Godzilla.
27:34Hayden:No, I think. I think Godzilla's owned by Warner Brothers.
27:37Yeah, I think maybe yeah, anyways, welcome to the movies. I didn't watch a movie, I didn't huh, I did good, I watched two.
27:46Hayden:TV shows. Well, I watched Zack Snyder's.
27:53Rebel Moon. I was about to say you didn't.
27:57Hayden:No, it's the new Netflix show that he car movie that you come out with and it's only. This is only part one, but it's really fun and like it's basically he described it when he was making it basically like take Star Wars and add blackjacket hookers. That's fun, it's a it's a more mature version of Star Wars, basically because originally the movie was pitched to be a Star Wars movie. He pitched it to George Lucas and Lucas ended up turning it down after a couple of years, so he made it. You know, zack Snyder went, netflix bought the rights, so he's making it into his own thing, but it's called Rebel Moon so not Star Wars related no okay, it's called Rebel Moon, a child of fire. It's got a 5.7 on IMDB.
28:42Hayden:I'll go ahead and tell you I give it a 7 out of 10. Oh like it's. It's good. There's a lot that could be improved.
28:47That's high praises. They're morphing in at a wrestling no.
28:52Hayden:They. They start off with this girl who's living on this world that you kind of find out that she's a warrior, that's kind of escaped the warrior life and so she's living there as a farmer in this community. Then the bad guys show up, they ruin the community and, as bad guys do, and throughout this whole movie, basically it's her and one of the guy from that community going and trying to find warriors to take on the mother world. What's that? What's called?
29:18earth.
29:20Hayden:Not, not, not earth, but ours. In the movie stars Sophia Bautella. She was she's placed Cora, which is the main person. She was the girl from the mummy that there was actually the, the mummy, the Tom Cruise one.
29:36I didn't see that nonsense. I saw part of it and I was like this is beyond horrible. I'm not watching this anymore.
29:41Hayden:She was that it's got Digimon Honsu as Titus, which he is, the the guy from blood diamond.
29:49Okay, I know you do that.
29:51Hayden:Ed screen is Atticus noble. He plays the villain he was. He was in Mad Max is like the, the one bad guy that becomes good, that likes. You know they spray his teeth gold or silver or whatever.
30:05Oh, shawning chrome forever.
30:07Hayden:I forgot what else he's in.
30:10Your phones ring.
30:12Hayden:Yeah, oh well then, michael Hoosman as gutter, which I'm trying to remember what he was in. Oh, he's the guy that plays. Actually, ed screen and Michael Hoosman both play in Game of Thrones as one of Daenerys's, like soldier, like elite soldiers. Remember the guy that changes like in season one, season two, he changes actors. Daria it's both of them, Both yeah, but the first actor and the second actor to play that guy oh wow, it's fun but they're both in this. And then you got a Charlie Hunnam. He's in the movie. But basically this this first one is it's got the influence of Star Wars and the seven samurai , like the Japanese film. Yeah we're basically there in this first part. They're gaining Warriors and stuff to go and fight.
31:05So they basically just this is a space version of the magnificent seven.
31:09Hayden:Yeah, pretty much.
31:10Do three or four of them die.
31:13Hayden:Um, one or two do in this movie and then you know, like I said, they're gonna join in. The second part actually comes out in April Because it's all been all been filmed already. Oh nice. Um, the movie is real, like. I mean, for me, zack Snyder has great visuals and everything he does Whether you like the movie or not, you have to admit like Watchmen and man is still, visually it looks amazing. Yeah, watchmen was better than still one to say, like visually the shots and stuff. They look amazing.
31:41He doesn't, he does do a good job.
31:42Hayden:This movie is like that. I mean every, every shot is very detailed, very, you know, intricate and everything. The story is really interesting . The what brings it down is the acting, a lot, of, a lot of the actors, just I mean they're doing it for the money. They're doing their story, but they just I don't know this flat . They seem very mediocre as far as like they're, it's wooden. Yeah, the main bad guy he's. He's very animated, he's, he's pretty good, which is a edge screen is Atticus noble, but the rest of them are just kind of bland as far as like their personality in the movie. Maybe it'll get better. Um, I I don't know.
32:20There's nothing you said. That was the guy who played in Game of Thrones, right?
32:26Hayden:Yeah.
32:27Let's say it is not Francis.
32:30Hayden:Francis.
32:31Deadpool.
32:32Hayden:Yeah, yeah, yeah, he plays the main bad guy. Say my name.
32:36Well, I said the main bad guy he plays the main bad guy in this movie.
32:40Hayden:He answers to a higher up which you kind of don't see, but just like maybe a few minutes of at the end.
32:47Obviously, we'll be a bigger character in part two.
32:50Hayden:Anthony Hopkins has a role in this. He's he's the narrator. Basically, I want to say he plays, he's still going. I want to say he plays the robot.
32:59Anthony Hopkins is like in his 90s. Let me see. Is he in his 90s? Let me look. I'm curious.
33:05Hayden:But there's a robot that used to be like this soldier, that there's basically sex. Neither is building a world here, and for this, for this movie franchise and this robot used to be like an elite soldier .
33:18In a time before.
33:20Hayden:So now the robots been like their king or whatever . The robots was destroyed so they've all become kind of docile where they don't fight anymore. But he does Well, no, he even with the end Maybe.
33:33There you go, come on , yeah, he's.
33:35Hayden:Anthony Hopkins is the voice of Jimmy, which is the name of the robot they give him . But he, he's pretty cool. He's like a more badass C3PO. He's not here.
33:49Oh, so badass counts. You can say that. You can say that, yeah.
33:53Hayden:All right, that's one word. Oh man, I touched that bottle and now my eyes are burning. I touched my eyes.
34:01That's what you care for touching. Oh my god, you just like OCs yourself in the face.
34:04Hayden:Yeah, I did, I did rub my eye.
34:07You're new.
34:08Hayden:Oh my god.
34:09The horror.
34:10Hayden:I can't see he's one eye Mitch.
34:13But yeah, there's a reason we have gloves.
34:16Hayden:The budget was for this movie was 90 million, and it's a lot. I enjoyed watching it. I've watched now. I didn't get to pay attention as much as I'd like to when I watched it, so I'm going to rewatch it again, but I am looking forward to see where it goes. There is already reported a Snyder cut because Netflix. Netflix wanted to appeal to all audiences so they made it make a PG 13 version, but there is a rated R version that will be coming out.
34:39You know that they were like we're going to do one, but we're also going to do a Snyder cut because we're going to make more money.
34:45Hayden:Exactly.
34:45Because everybody's going to see it and know it was you, and then they're going to go. We want the Snyder cut.
34:49Hayden:We already have it. It is on Netflix, so you're not paying anything extra.
34:52Yeah.
34:54Hayden:But they wanted to because they want to build this into a franchise. They want all people to be able to watch it, so they made it make a PG 13 version. That's pretty good.
35:02I watched a good movie on Netflix in a while. Netflix has been kind of stepping up.
35:06Hayden:Yeah, they've got some better stuff lately.
35:09I mean, I'm not saying their stuff is great, but better it's, better they're getting better. Which is you know what. That's all we can really ask for.
35:17Hayden:Oh, this movie also has Ray Fisher in it. He plays Darian Bloodaxe.
35:21Ray Fisher.
35:22Hayden:The guy who played Cyborg.
35:25In the new ones.
35:26Hayden:Yeah, ok, but that's pretty much it for as far as popular people that you would recognize.
35:35What about unpopular people?
35:36Hayden:There's Michael Hoosman that I was talking about .
35:39Oh yeah, yeah, man, I enjoyed this movie. No, she looks familiar.
35:42Hayden:I would recommend watching it at least once. And if you like the kind of Star Wars kind of stuff, you know, I do. Man, that's all I got.
35:49TV shows yeah, do we have a?
35:50Hayden:button for that. I do not Grab my buttons.
35:55It's like do we have a button for that?
35:56Hayden:No, Not at the moment .
35:59Just, you know, just end the show. I watched two shows Last season . The letter Kenny came out December 26, which was the season series finale, season 12. Six episodes, obviously. I watched the letter Kenny since, like season six, I think it was when they first went to Hulu I wasn't paying for Crackle .
36:24Hayden:Yeah.
36:25Whatever Crackle was Following the story, Wayne, Katie, Squirrel, Dan, Daryl Wayne, the most aggressively moving person of all time, Just the way he's like the tightness of squinting. So it was the last season. You know a lot of nostalgia trips from stuff from earlier. Didn't like how they ended it.
36:49Hayden:OK.
36:50I was kind of hoping for more of like a. I guess I wanted more of a ribbon on everyone's individual lives and like the plot. Did they even say letter Kenny really has a plot. Just more of like a almost like . They all lived happily ever after. Like you know, you could like this is where everybody went off and went to go. Do you needed a conclusion? I needed a solid conclusion Because I mean, yeah, a lot of fighting, it ends with a fight, which is pretty much the show. I mean, it's not just always just fighting, but in every season there's a scrap, as they call it, because, like Wayne's whole thing is at the beginning of season one, his girlfriend of five years cheated on him and she like docile them to like
37:37stop fighting because he was the toughest guy in letter Kenny prior. So all these people were just running around and once that happened, like they like coaxed him out of retirement Not really coaxed. He beat the crap out of her boyfriend Because he, like some dude, was like being kicked him into like some garbage, some drunk dude, and Wayne saw it and he was like no. And he just went and knocked the crap out of him. But his whole like thing is like toughest guy in letter Kenny and you go through the entire show and people show up trying to fight him and he just beats the snot at everybody. Like there's one dude, he knocks him out and like he knows , like he chaos the guy and in one motion he knocks him out.
38:16His hand goes through his pocket in his shirt, he pulls out a pack of cigarettes it's a license, Like he knew he got him and like the music is funny. The show is just fun If you don't really want to follow along. It is just like I mean they are self-proclaimed hicks but their writing was just so good, Like their use of vocabulary is like unparalleled in a show these days, so it's almost like bizarre that they're so well read and well versed and they're just farmers.
38:47Hayden:They're just scholarly farmers.
38:48They're very scholarly, very scholarly to be fair, to be fair. So I mean it was the end. I watched the entire season of One Night. I mean they're like 20 minutes.
38:58Hayden:It was only six of them.
38:59So it took me like two and a half hours to get through all of it. But I was just watching, watching, watching and I was like eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, I get ended. And I was like that was it. And I was like I kind of wanted more, like as a series to me, like nine and a half out of 10. Great series, loved it.
39:15Hayden:I just never could get into it. I tried watching one episode.
39:19Yeah, you kind of got to power through some of the stuff and then it's just, I know it's, it's niche humor, it's not my cup of tea, not your cup of tea, mitch, but you know it's so hard to end a show. It's been 12 seasons. It's hard to end a show. Now not everybody can go out, like you know, mash or Bob Newhart show or new or Newhart, where you have like the greatest ending of a show ever and everybody's like no one's going to top that. So I mean it was a good season. If they, if this was just a season, this would have been like oh, this is a great season, but the fact that it was like that was it and it's like I'm not getting anymore Sucks. I mean, even though I got the spin off, I got Shorzy which.
40:00Jared Keese, who plays Wayne and who directs and writes the show. He plays Shorzy.
40:06Hayden:OK.
40:07Because Shorzy was just the care. You never saw Shorzy's face. You knew it was him because it was him just talking high pitch and they put a wig on the hat and even if they were like doing hockey scenes and he was playing, he had this huge black visor like down, so you couldn't see his, like his nose up. But you knew it was Jerk and like just like you could tell by his way. And now there he knows, it's him anyway playing Shorzy. It doesn't matter, but you still get the same, but it's just a totally different character, it's not Wayne OK. And then I watched another show , which was I was. Yes, minister, oh you watch Hayden? I watched Hayden.
40:44Hayden:Yes.
40:45So yes, minister, it's a British political satire sitcom.
40:49Hayden:Who would have guessed? British, I know.
40:51I told Rachel, a girlfriend, that I was going to, about this show. It's like I saw a YouTube clip of it and I was like that was really funny and I'd like look and see what it was. And I found I just found this, this show. I was, like you know, I already told you, like you already assume, that I'm actually English, I'm not American. I was born in. England. I was raised in England and educated and I just came here and I posed, as an American, some like bizarre secret.
41:11Hayden:You're helping your circumstances, Tom.
41:14So I watched this show and it's really just three main people like going about because it first came out. The show ran from like 1980 to like 1988 as two different shows that old yeah. So you had yes, minister from like 80 to 84. They did specials. And then 86 to 88. They did yes, prime minister, where the main character he becomes the PM of Britain. Because it stars three people Paul Eddington, nigel Hawthorne and Derek folds. You know who Nigel Hawthorne is , you've seen demolition man.
41:53Hayden:Yes.
41:53So the main bad guy not Wesley Snipes.
41:57Hayden:Yeah, the politician kind of.
41:59Yeah, that's him. Ok, and he's also in that great movie, the Madness of King George, which is hilarious.
42:05Hayden:Another British film, huh.
42:06Yeah, yeah. So I mean probably he plays Jim Hacker, who's like a member of parliament and at the beginning of the series there's a you know , change in regime, so to speak. Someone else becomes prime minister, Somebody he actually like campaign against because he's like part of the opposition and not to get devolved into British politics and what all this crap means, Because their politics system just makes you want to like, put your head through the wall. It's like how does anything ever get done? Which? You watch the show and you realize it's all by design. Nothing gets done. You watch the show and you realize it's on purpose, Literally. It's on purpose Like this is the most funny, sophisticated,
42:45like, like highbrow, like on the nose political, like satire I've ever seen about, like how government really works, when it's like he has all his ideas and policy. He becomes a minister, the minister of administrative affairs. It's not a real post in real life. They made it up for the show, but that's just because that's how it is. So Derek Foulds plays Bernard. It's Bernard. But they go, bernard, he's like his. He's the main secretary for the minister. So him and Nigel Hawthorne. Nigel Hawthorne plays Sir Humphrey. They're secretaries, but they're permanent secretaries for the office. So ministers come and go. The two of them are still there . But Sir Humphrey is like this obnoxious, overly educated guy
43:31from Oxford who, like anything that Haggard tries to introduce or do is a policy or change, and like he's like oh, he's like they're like reinvent the wheel. Like as soon as he shows up and it's just like oh, he's another one of these. It's like, but it's like all. Like he's like double talk and just like his obnoxious use of the English language to take him in an entire circle but nothing happened and he never answered a question or even asked any questions. There's just a lot of words and fluff. And like there's like yeah, yeah, and then he leaves and it's like well, that was the end of that. But like his, they do. They run the civil service who are secretly behind the entire government of Britain.
44:07Based on what I've watched on this show, ok, literally like every policy that gets introduced gets shot down by them. And like they go through like stages where it's just like oh, it's like we could just do, like you know this, what like you know, like the Rhodesia thing, or like you know their plans on like how to counter policy and change of any kind, where it's like they hide like really important memos at the bottom of really dull memos, just like stuff. Like they hide stuff from them, they keep stuff from them. It's like, oh, we need to tell the Prime Minister. It's like no, we don't why, because then he'll know. Like no, like all their scandals, cover ups, it's, it's, it's so well written and hilarious.
44:46I was just sitting there like dying, like I laughed out loud multiple times and I hadn't done that. I'm watching a show on a very long time, so I'm excited to watch the rest of this.
44:56Hayden:So you said it was three seasons.
44:59No, it was a couple of seasons. Ok, I think it's five seasons or series, what they do. So there's three for yes, minister, and two for yes, prime Minister.
45:10Hayden:OK.
45:11So I'm excited to continue to watch that. What would you?
45:14Hayden:rate it.
45:15Oh, this is like 10 out of 10. It's the acting is very biased.
45:21Hayden:It's a judgment.
45:22It's great acting. It's impeccable writing. It's such a great fun topic that they just I mean, I don't know.
45:32Hayden:What was the name of the show again?
45:33Yes, minister, ok, it's like they're abuse. It's like what South Park would be if it was live in his political satire, ok, without like all the cursing kids, like takeaway, like, just like go at, like the sat. The satirical part of South Park and politics Make it British, that's that show. Ok, and that's a very, very big generalization of what I watch. But it's just absolutely hilarious. I enjoyed every second of it. It's hilarious OK.
46:01Hayden:Well, good, unless you enjoyed what you watched. And we move on to and I know you're shocked- it's. British. What does this button do? Oh, oh, oh, I thought that was news. We're moving on to news.
46:16News. We need like a din din, din din .
46:19Hayden:Yeah. I had one of those and I just didn't put it on there, that's always next time bitch. Yeah, next time. Anyways, did you know what's become public domain recently? The Epstein names no no, all my like characters that have become public domain. No, I didn't hear about it the original Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse. Oh yeah, I did see some, so you know how there's a horror movie about the Winnie the Pooh.
46:45There's a bad thing about Mickey Mouse.
46:46Hayden:Yes, there is, they've already said so they can't re-retain the rights. It says Mickey Mouse is public domain now. So there's two horror films that have already been announced that are being made. There's a picture from one of them.
46:57Oh, my god, I want like the. Oh, is he stabbing people? I'm going to kill you Like some grossest, like who's there?
47:09Hayden:Oh, and when he does, he has to, like, pop his head around the corner. You think this is funny? Oh, try to learn from me. There's another movie that's going to get in a remake Roadhouse.
47:24Yeah, with Jay Gyllenhaal Looks nothing like Roadhouse. There is no reason to remake or sequelize or do anything. They did a sequel to Roadhouse. It was terrible, it was awful, but, like Roadhouse, roadhouse had to be made when it was made, because Roadhouse exists at that point in time. Yeah, it doesn't really work now. It doesn't work now because everybody would sue him. The cops would show up, he'd get arrested, the bar would close. You know it would be all this publicity. You can't. You can't have a swarthy, handsome dude named Dalton beating the crap out of dudes at bars because he's the cooler and you need them in the street. You can't, you can't do that anymore, because no, they've been waiting in the parking lot with guns and they just shoot
48:06him when he went home.
48:08Hayden:That's what would happen Well, that everybody be filming it with their cell phone .
48:11Oh, my god, this guy beat him up for no reason. It's all over the news. You're basically guilty. No one did criminal justice doesn't care that you were defending yourself.
48:23Hayden:Next bit of news that I have is the Star Wars Outlaws , which is going to be the massive open world we're I guess you're a bounty hunter but it's got a release date. It says for late 2024. So it doesn't have an actual date, it just says late this year It'll be coming out, which is pretty neat because they've shown some footage of it. And I mean, basically it's just an open world, star Wars, where you can travel from planet to planet and all that stuff. That'd be fun.
48:48It was better than Starfield.
48:49Hayden:Yeah.
48:51That was actually a video game thing. I saw it's like there was like the five biggest flops of the year.
48:55Hayden:I mean Starfield was fun.
48:56Starfield was on there. What's?
48:58Hayden:to do it. It's just like OK.
48:59Starfield and Diablo four.
49:02Hayden:Diablo four yeah, that was born.
49:03That was yeah. I paid money for that because somebody convinced us. Hayden Brandon.
49:19Hayden:Anyways, I've been lately. I've been watching the Daredevil series again.
49:23Now it's back.
49:24Hayden:Well, they have been watching the first two seasons. That was originally on Netflix because they're on Disney Plus now because on the ninth the show Echo comes out. Well, I guess the show, this episode, will be out after one of the clones. No, the show Echo has come out.
49:39Oh, by the time, this is there's.
49:41Hayden:So I've been watching the Daredevil series trying to get caught up before I watch the Echo series, because supposedly Daredevil shows up and they're trying to turn Kingpin into, like the street level Thanos when people like Hawkeye, daredevil, punisher that's that's so I guess, like the Infinity Poker chips or something like. No, just like he's the big corporate. He's like Lex Luthor kind of, but on a smaller scale. And Echo. You know how Hawkeye turned into Ronan Avengers. Basically she becomes Ronan in the comics. She takes over that mantle.
50:14They call her Echoes because she can use echolocation .
50:16Hayden:Well, it's kind of like Daredevil she, she's disabled, where she can't talk, but she's Like a superior martial artist where she can fight equal with them and stuff, so that supposedly Daredevil shows up in this series as well. So we'll see and it all come out. I think it's either five or six episodes all coming out at one time.
50:36Oh no, he can binge, yeah good.
50:39Hayden:Let's see what else do we have on here? Oh, the the, the Tekken. They have made a colorblind filter and I don't know about you, but it hurts my eyes to look at that. There are colorblind filters. Basically everything's black and white and the characters have vertical or horizontal lines.
51:00I don't like that.
51:01Hayden:I don't like that at all. That hurts my eyes to look at that hurt.
51:04I have a headache now . What is that? Who thought that was a good idea? My eyes watered up just trying to look at that for a second.
51:16Hayden:But that's all the news that I have.
51:19So I guess we'll call it on that.
51:21Hayden:All right, well, see you next time. Bye.
